ABS-QF3 | Feel The Beat | 2002 Economy Mobiles

Thread theme music o algo

Welcome to ABS-QF3, we don’t speak about the 2nd

Edit: Fixed typos and specified game version

Ok, to start off, some important news regarding ABS

The time frame of challenges is going to change due to a slight manpower issue (me, military service, pakistan), this will result in longer rounds to make it easier on our limited free time.

Enough dilly dallying, lets get into the task at hand, you know the drill, open the dropdown menus to see the rules and such

See what the deal is

From Berlin to Warsaw, with one tank

Ok, your assignment today is to make the best, most spine-tingling A24 lean-burn … Economy Car of MY2002, I know, exciting? Well no, but challenging? Yes! And a fun design task that allows for lots of approaches? Also yes!

RUN THE OPENBETA AL- RILMA

As for inspiration cars, well, look at the banners, idiot

See Rule Menus

Galvanize

Rules are courtesy of our favorite forum-banned @Shitsoom, and of course, fellow ABS- competitors in our Discord that we will keep shilling. In my testing, they are decently tight and competitive, so get ready for a doozey

The Logical Car

The aim is to capture the new budgetally-challenged, safety-conscious population of the 21st century. And just in time too, seeing what happened in 2008 (too soon)

There aren’t very many rules

  • Set Model Year to 2002
  • Run at the very least a Galvanized chassis
  • Body must be labeled as a hatchback
  • Min. wheelbase of 2.3ish meters, we are lenient

And that is it

See Engine Rules

Born just a Little Too Slow

Low running costs are ever-important, and especially so to the more budget-conscious people, hence your engine has to be reliable and economical, power be damned

  • Set year to 2002
  • Maximum Engine SVC of $300 AutoBux (yes seriously)
  • Minimum Reliability of 67
  • Maximum ET for the engine is 75
  • Max loudness is 30
  • And to top it off, you must meet WES 8 emissions
  • Run 95 Unleaded
  • Superchargers are banned

See? I told you. It gets tight after the first 2 inches

À caus’ des garçons

Being cheap isn’t enough, the car has to be a nice, comfortable and practical whole as to appeal to as many people as possible. Now, how you do that is entirely up to you, but aim for a good, versatile product

  • Drivability has to be at least 50
  • Comfort has to be at least 10
  • At least 40 safety, but do aim for more
  • At least 50 practicality
  • Min. allowed reliability is 57
  • Minimum combined Fuel Economy of 35 USMPG
  • Your tire sidewall must be at least 55, no megarims
  • Car must seat at least 5 people

One more special rule, as to avoid a really really fucking stupid build from winning

Max allowed 0 - 62mph sprint is 16 seconds, for every .5 below, you score 10 points

Have a look at your budgets

Realizer? I barely know her!

Well that was a ridiculously obscure reference, worth it? Yeah worth it. Fuck yeah worth it

As said above, keep the car cheap to buy and own

  • You get an approx. cost budget of $15000
  • Maximum SVC of $800 autobux
  • Techpool budget of 9 million total, don’t go below 0 in any category

Well, word to the wise, learn to use techpool and quality tactically

Players only love you when They’re Playing

Scoring works exactly as it has before, so to retread old ground, have a look.

Your points dictate your placement, points are calculated for each category, and work the same way they do in F1.

Darkside Pleasures

Your car will be judged on its engineering by its Automation stats, duh. We plug the car into our patented AutoBullshitSeries :trade_mark: calculator, and out comes your total.

This time there are no multipliers, so shoot for raw stats, more is better

Bad Behaviour

The stylistic appeal of your creation is scored by public vote. If we feel like it, we will give some extra stars that don’t affect score.

Word to the UNwise, your PHOTOS MATTER! Ever hear of good from afar, and far from good? Yeah. Photograph well, and you can make the worst of cars passable. And if you photograph like you have parkinson’s, you can make your postmodern masterpiece look terrible

In a public vote, the result is hardly predictable, the best you can do is make the car look good, and make the photos match

Give It All

Crashing Foreign Cars

These subtitles are getting more and more stupid…whatever

So, the entry, here is what you need to give us

  1. A .car file of your car, duh
  2. Flattering pictures of your car
  3. Nothing else, QFs don’t have laptimes you can submit

And here is WHERE you send them, PICK 1 of 3 for Christ’s sake, I don’t want to see the same car everywhere, from the thread to my IRL mailbox…

  1. Submit it to the thread as a reply
  2. Submit it to ME as a PM
  3. Submit it on our Discord

And that is all. Have fun and happy competing

That is all the babble I could muster up, happy competing!

Deadline is extended to 2025-07-05T20:59:00Z with a 1 - day grace period. This allows us to change the start of new QF- rounds to a more sensible Saturday.

I suppose you could call this server Growing Pains, the Server. Or Unrest in the Automation? Dunno

Anyhow, I am obligated to shill our little server of 23 members. Here are some joining benefits

1st: A place to chat with (supposedly?) cool people
2st: A place to submit your car, if you want
3st: You get early access to rulesets in the draft phase
4st: A brandrisk channel, if you are cool enough

So help us grow and join the fun! Also, we are looking for more people to help us run the show, seeing my … situation

It doesn’t matter if it has 3 or 5 doors, though.

Yeah, that part doesn’t matter

Ok, poll time

We have a slight issue in the producer side of things, what with me having to go military now

This will result in rounds quite possibly taking longer to come out, and also lasting longer, especially if we don’t find more people to help out

How long would you want the rounds to last?

Quickfires should last:

  • 1 - 2 weeks
  • 2 - 3 weeks
  • 3 + weeks
0 voters

Mainline challenges should last:

  • 2 - 3 weeks
  • 3 - 4 weeks
  • 4 + weeks
0 voters

If there is a Phase 2, it should be:

  • 1 - 2 weeks
  • 2 - 3 weeks
  • It depends on the theme
0 voters

Thank you in advance. We have decided to move the start date of QFs to the weekend, just to make them easier to take part in.

Also, next mainline releases soon, this time it will be a single phase challenge, that will last we think 4 weeks at least. We will see
