AGC36 - The Blacklist [Complete]

AGC36:

Co-hosted with @iivansmith

To fight the most dangerous and skilled of all street racers, we must become the enemy.
"The Blacklist" is a racing game being developed by OreoWorld studios where you take on the role of an undercover cop engaging in dangerous, high-stakes racing trying to bring down the most wanted of all street racers - those in the city's blacklist.

OreoWorld studios are now taking in submissions for the lineup of police cars available in the game. Make the best overall police car, and you get to be the car in the game’s box art - aka the “halo” car. The rest of the entries will make it into the regular lineup - aka starter cars or mid-progression cars.

The cars will be judged based on 3 criteria, based on the top 3 most wanted racers. First is agility & cornering - the police (you) needs to trust the car’s ability in navigating dangerous canyon races or busy downtown city pursuits. Second is speed and acceleration - you need a car that can catch up to a race car in the middle of a race, and catch those using extreme amounts of nitrous in long stretches of highway. Thirdly, there have been a concerning amount of street racers who are actively “fighting back” by smashing police cars and competing amongst themselves to cause the most wreckage - you will need a car that is durable, reliable and safe.

You play as a police character (appearance customizable) who is part of Unit F8. You and a few other elite drivers are tasked with wiping out the illegal and dangerous street racing scene once and for all. You will do this by buying your own exotic supercar (or muscle or hypercar) from any era, and extensively upgrading it far beyond its original performance. You will have extensive resources and technology at your disposal to make a weapon that will be the ultimate street racer’s worst nightmare. Good luck and have fun.

Looks, Aesthetic & Design
This is a game. The better looking the car, the more players would want to use it. Also, we really want the car in our game's box art to be really good looking. Higher-level cars should be better looking than the starter ones. Anyway - this is really important!

Note: Liveries are NOT necessary, but if you wish to do it you can do so. Really good ones do add to the overall ‘aesthetic’. Otherwise, a full ‘undercover’ style car with pure matte black and some blue/red police LEDs would work well too.

:star: :star:

Speed

The car needs to be FAST to be able to catch and outrun these notorious street racers before they can do anymore damage. Not just the sportiness stat, but will use acceleration, top speed, 1/4mi, 80-120, etc.

Agility

The car needs to be AGILE to deftly pass through traffic or notorious canyon roads or tiny country back roads. Will use cornering Gs, grip levels, drivability, weight, etc.

Durability

The car needs to be DURABLE enough to withstand aggressive driving from these heartless racers who CAN and WILL push you off a canyon or literally ram your car. Will use safety, reliability and weight stats.

Rules

We are making a game. We will use Automation’s 2020 year for engineering.

Notes & Changelog

Firstly, we are making a game - realism isn’t the biggest priority here. With that said, please don’t minmax a particular stat. We want the best-looking and best designed cars with some solid and well-rounded engineering. The particular design and aesthetics of the car is open from the year 1990 to above, so you can make JDM cars with modernized internals for example, and can re-use cars from recent challenges, but we do prefer more modern ones!

Liveries are also not necessary and if you can’t do a good one, might as well go for the “undercover” police stealth matte black look tbh. Just be sure to have police lights or lightbar or some bumper bars.

We are however looking for modern supercars to fight these darn racers.

Additional note - please do NOT bother with interiors!

Changes:
  • Removed minimum techpool requirements for Turbo on NA engines. (you can set the ‘Turbo’ techpool to 0 if you have a naturally-aspirated engine)

Maybe you can put some dubai or wherever police cars in the inspirations?

Also, maybe give us like a city name or something to put on a livery

And about the

part, do we deal with the upgrades and stuff or do we just provide the base car?

What about removing turbo TP on N/A engines?

This would help keep them balanced by allowing the unused TP points to be reallocated elsewhere.

Hmm tbh I feel there’s no reason to specify a specific city or country for the livery, since this is a game you can make it as generic as you want, that way it’ll be more open for other players too I think, but I can wait and see what others think.

I gave quite a bit of techpool and buget, the idea is to allow modern 2020 supercar levels of performance, but if you really love your late 90s JDM build or car design for example, then you should use the techpool and budget to upgrade that car to be able to compete with modern supercars too. Just make sure that both the body and trim are set to 2020. (ie. You can engine swap a monster V12 to some tiny Miata or something and have the widebody be made out of fiberglass or whatnot.)

(basically, use all the techpool and budget and make the best performing car you can)

What about removing turbo TP on N/A engines?

Alright yeah I can do that.

For the speed stat, is there a minimum top speed we should be looking for? And should we bother with a speed limiter since there’s no maintenance costs?

submissions are not open yet lol

oops, sorry

Maybe it’s just me, but these two parts feel at odds with one another.

Well it is supposed to be a game lol

Anything is possible

i mean someone could make like one of those ford explorer cars

So is it open now?

Yes, technically it is. I was supposed to make another post but since there’s no any additional discussion with the rules so I’ll open it now.

I do have one question.
(Im a bit off today and having trouble deciphering the assignment)
I know we are cops, but are designing cars with police package or civilian ascetics?

They’re undercover cop cars, you can put a lot of cop stickers and a police livery if you’re confident you can do a good job with it, or else you can just go for a stealth matte black look (akin to undercover cop cars in NFS rivals for example).

Alrighty then.

Here’s my entry:

Please ignore the title, as it is Ai generated and I’m not (yet) good enough to edit that out.

Disclaimer: This is not a supercar, but a car that will whoop supercars asses (at least on straights, lol)

Looking for clarification here…

Are we building cop cars ie. more powerful, 2 row seating interdiction vehicles capable of transporting suspects, or are we building pursuit cars ie. balls to the wall performance repurposed for high speed pursuit?

Are we building cop cars ie. more powerful, 2 row seating interdiction vehicles capable of transporting suspects, or are we building pursuit cars ie. balls to the wall performance repurposed for high speed pursuit?

Hi, you’re an elite ex-street racer turned police. You’re provided funds to buy your own supercar or modify an older car to catch other legendary street racers. So… balls to the wall supercars, yes.

You just need to bump into these racers to shut them down burnout-style (it’s a game)

I believe it was in the brief…? Sorry if it’s not clear enough. You can also look at the inspirations list which I’ve put some supercars or superSUVs or whatnot, it’s meant to be open but supercar-level performance is the expectation yes.
