Another MG

My dad and I bought this rustbucket today:

The car is scrap, but we are going to build a brand new MGB GT V8, and we need a donor car, so this is it, a 1970 MGB GT.
We are going to use a brand new body shell from British Motor Heritage, a more modern 4-litre Rover fuel-injected V8 (instead of the 3.5 liter carb version used in the original V8), a custom made leather interior and lots of other quality parts. We want it to be perfect, because my dad wants to use it as his daily driver for the rest of his life. It is going to be painted in Aston Martin Gunmetal grey.

That’s about it for now, I’ll post more pictures when we get this (not even starting) rustbucket home.

Are you allowed to move the VIN over to the new body or are you going to get a new VIN number ?

Here in Denmark that would be difficult to say the least. If you are lucky you would get to pay a new registration tax, if you are unlucky (and I think this is more likely) they would just say no.

Officially, this blue car you see here is going to be the new car. This rusted body will die anonymous, we’ll give it to the old steel dealer instead of to a regular car scrapyard. In other words, on paper, we’ll restore this body, but instead of actually restoring it, we’ll buy a new body (which doesn’t have a VIN number) and put the VIN number of the old car on it.

And you are right, it is not legal to move the VIN number from the old body to the new one, but they’ll never find out, and because the old body is ours, and the new body is officially just a part, and not another car, this would be tolerated if they would find it out. Which they won’t.

I was going to say ‘how are they to know?’ :stuck_out_tongue:

Exactly!

Better hope they’re not fans of Automation. You could delete the number off the car in the pics to be on the safe side :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t think any Automation fan will be so damn childish

I wouldn’t bet on it, but lets not be paranoid. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anywho, is changing the VIN number that much of a hassle? Just curious.

No, you just tell British Motor Heritage which number you want on the new body, that’s it
