Yup, that’s my trick to get separate high beams :^) As for the rest of it that’s fair, that’s the sort of quirks you’d expect from someone who doesn’t like modern car design doing a modern car design lol.
As for the lack of traction, imo there’s a few things that have kinda compounded to make it how it is. So far every round has been modern (which is pretty divisive, even though there’s a lot of people that like it, it seems like there’s a larger amount that don’t), its been pretty crowded in terms of challenges in here for a while now, and for this round specifically it was MPVs, which are never as popular from what I’ve seen.
Yeah, turns out badge engineering has existed for quite some time, it’d be interesting to see a round that takes place not in the current year. As for the choice of using an MPV, I went in thinking that it’d be a good canvas for some redesign, with the massive front/rear end and three row seats and whatnot (which I think it really was, looking at the entries).
Another idea; in challenges like, say, CSC, some rounds judge engineering and stats as well as design. Maybe this challenge could use some of that sometimes, with limited budget and priorities. As for restrictions in engineering changes… the first round’s probably a good reference for it, though in some cases manufacturers do change more (e.g. Fiat 124 Spider - Mazda MX5). Man, I wish I’m knowledgeable enough to judge engineering.
But it really depends on whether or not this challenge lives on. For now, vote below:
My opinion is that what we may need is more of the “semi continous” challenges. I can understand CSR being continous of course, or some others like ARM, TMCC etc.
The thing is that some concepts may be a bit too much to gain interest round after round. I can say that the cool wall rounds have felt more exciting when they have popped up every now and then, than I think that they would have been if there had been repetitive cool wall rounds. The concept simply have felt more fresh when it have been put to rest for a while before appearing again.
Even your favourite dish would start to taste rather bland if you ate it every day, so to speak.
Somehow, I feel that ARBC could be a challenge that would lend very good to that concept. Just let the winner, or the one willing to host, put it up when it feels like the time is right, may it be sooner or later. Rebranding car after car is probably a bit “just more of the same” in the long run, maybe “oh, haven’t done this in a while, it might be fun” could spark some interest for the new rounds instead.
True, true. Especially with the host having to make the template car, interior included, doing this occasionally when there’s time and a car’s available for it might be the wisest choice should the challenge continue.
I personally am not able to host, bc of school.
Maybe we should keep it going, with a twist (like a different era).
So, I’ll pass it along to @nate21 and @lotto77
I would love to see the challenge go on its funny that its been the same few people everytime and even I forgot to enter this time.
Going older would be great as was stated, I think there could be a bit more room with morphs even… look a things like the challenger/ barracuda. Same roof and general shape but completely different front and rear ends.
Yeah I’d definitely say that next round needs to be with older cars. Also I like the CoolWall style idea, with it being a once in a blue moon style challenge
As much as I would love to see this challenge continue I don’t personally have time to host with work and school. I could supply a car I’ve been working on though, albeit it is another modern SUV.
Alright, I’ll cook up something. Older car, engineering judged, and I’ll wait until the update drops so it’s a good excuse to get used to the new changes, so look forward to that hopefully within a week.
