Howdy Chooms! Been on an ostrobogulous cyberpunk kick, so here I’ll spout off some Cyberpunk-inspired builds I’ll be making over the next few weeks, along with some minor lore bits to go with 'em.
2059 Archer Radiant S240
Everyone knows Archer can make a good sports car. Look at the Quartz: Introduced in 2041, and still a top seller at Archer Dealers across the NUSA, with it’s light curb-weight, punchy small-displacement V8, and semi-sporty suspension. However, in 2058, Quadra and Mizutani each introduced a heavyweight hitter to the sports-car market with the Turbo-R and Shion MZ1 and MZ2 respectively. The Turbo-R was more of a direct competitor, sporting a twin-turbocharged 4.8-liter V8, while the Shion opted for a single-turbo Inline-5, both of which seemed to outmatch the Quartz. It was around this time where the Archer Engineers had to get creative.
Their product: the Archer Radiant. While slightly larger than the Quartz, it inversely features a lower curb weight due to the departure from a V8 and new lightweight construction. The introductory trim, the S240, featured the smaller of Archer’s new engines, the 2.4-Liter Turbocharged Inline-4. With the addition of per-cylinder Fuel Injection, the Inline-4 pushes out 306 Horsepower, 86 more than the Quartz EC-T2 R660, and delivers power to the front wheels through a 5-speed Automatic transmission. The Turbocharger, combined with a slightly-redesigned suspension system derived from the Quartz, offers a more powerful alternative to the Quartz, and one that can even compete with the MZ1 and Turbo-R.
2061 Archer Radiant S300
Coming off the smash-hit that was the Radiant S240’s launch, Archer proceeded forward with the second phase of the Radiant’s release plan: The S300. Introducing the second of Archer’s new engines, the 3-Liter Twin-Turbocharged V6, the S300 puts out just over 420 Horsepower, nearly double that of the Quartz EC-T2, while still weighing in just shy of said model. The S300 also features larger wheels, a wider track, stiffer springs, and Archer’s new I-AWD (Intelligent-All-Wheel-Drive) System. Offered with either an upgraded 5-speed automatic, or an entirely new 6-speed manual, there’s an S300 for every sports-car enthusiast.
2062 Archer Radiant R640
This very rare and very elusive trim is the brainchild of one Archer Racing Engineer who wanted a cheap entry into the NCMR Endurance Series. While based on the Radiant S300’s platform, almost every mechanical component of the newly named R640 is different. As luck would have it, rival automaker Mizutani was ALSO looking for a way into the NCMR Endurance series, and after a couple rounds of shots at one of the local bars after a pre-season meeting, the Archer Engineer pitched an idea to the Mizutani Racing execs: “Let’s partner up, and we’ll split the winnings 50/50. We have a tried and true chassis, all we need is your new 3-Liter Twin Turbo and AWD gearbox, and your traction management system from the Shion MZ2.” A radical joining of two different hardware that would form the beast that came to be the R640. For six years straight, the R640 dominated the NCMR Endurance series, snatching up every podium spot for nearly every race, every season. Ultimately, corporate fallout lead to the retirement of the R640 and it’s teams, leaving only 300 Homologated Road Cars ever built.
With the '80s influence on your cyberpunk-inspired thread, using the '75 Orion body set made a lot of sense for your Radiant line.
Thanks man, Cyberpunk-style is a little difficult to pull off in Automation without 3D fixtures, so I’m happy with the way the Radiant turned out. Blocky-ish design, asymmetrical aspects, I tried my best to give it the 2077 vibe. Now the struggle is finding more bodies that fit my vision without having to make a custom one from fixtures lol
You could try the '72 Moore (in front- and mid-engined configurations) - its angular aesthetic really suits the cyberpunk vibe.
That one is definitely on my list for a Quadra-type vehicle, just have to figure out how not to make another Turbo-R lol. Right now I’m working on a mid-engine Rayfield Hypercar, perhaps I’ll work on the Quadra next
