You clearly deserved to win this latest season! What will the 80s bring? More turbos?
I wish I had the time to dinish my car last week, hopefully I can rejoin the next round
I submitted something that that I had worked on in anticipation, but I forgot to add enough cooling after tweaking it a bit.
Oops
About the advices I’ve got last second trip so I wasn’t able to do much even less to enter here, but before the confusion I started something:
@Newtonmeter, for start I thought your suspension was too soft, so I tried to make it harder and could increase your cornering by 0.01g, but lost between 1~3s in each non-drag track, so I don’t have an advice for you. You tune better than me.
@doncornaldie, I started to make some modifications at your car, but was interrupted by this trip. I will give you a generic idea, since I can’t enter Automation right now, but monday I’ll tell you what I did with more details:
-
Engine
-
The fuel mixture was too rich;
-
Ignition timing was too advanced;
-
You were using race exhaust headers, they are too much expensive for little gain;
-
The over cam was too race oriented;
-
And the compression was too high.
-
(ps: you could also try to use carbs instead of mech. injection)
-
Car
-
Wheels way too big (bigger wheels limt the tyre width);
-
Tyres way too thin (because of the big wheels);
-
You were using power steering, money that could be better spent;
-
Gearbox re-tuned to fit the new engine graphic.
With this changes I’ve got 2:55.82 at the SPG Road Course, a time 4.58s better, and your car becomes $2000 cheaper, so you can get better tyres, gearbox and/or engine. Remembering I didn’t finish it.
@gridghost, @HighOctaneLove and @ramthecowy, I’ll try to see yours all Monday too.
We have a surprise being prepared as an entertainment and learning exercise before the next round.
But the 80s will bring us turbos for sure and some better variety, also we are re-working our process of scrutinizing to make it more efficient.
awesome. thanks!
Well I’ve entered 3 cars so far, 2 silvers and a tie for bronze, guess I’m always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Nice season everyone @Newtonmeter nice win and well deserved that’s a sweet little car. @MitsubishiFan nice job as well .
5 Seasons and the DFM won 3 of them…
As result we the Deutsche Fahrzeug Manufaktur declare to take the winner’s punishment from now on for every future Season.
bold move.
but, for 1980, i think i’ve found a loophole to exploit…
Let’s the game begin .
I didn’t start to build anything until wie know the new reglement.In mind oft a bigger weight penalty i think the next car won’t be the rally car again.
If the engines stay the same i really want to get 450hp with a wide enough power band.
When I was prototyping the engines for 78, I got the I4 to 440hp but it didn’t quite have the powerband to be fast.
Also, something special will come up next
Yeah over 450hp are no Problem but not usable. I lowerd the power step by step until it was usable

The pressure is really on you guys now, you have until next Friday, the 28th of April 23:59 CEST to hand in your cars and the results will come out over the weekend. Of course, if all the cars come in earlier and no revisions are requested then that will be even better and the results will be out earlier.
As always, send in your cars to @frankNStein. Your cars should be named like this:
We reserve a few days to discuss and finalize the rule set and penalties. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. As always, feedback on the ruleset, the presentation, the layout, anything is welcome.
Have fun, and wish you all the best of luck!
wait. only 5 of us using a car from the 1979 i presume?
oh fuck… v6 with journal twin turbo
Oh damn, I’m not sure I’ll be able to enter. This week is already pretty tight for me.
dont you mean 1970-1980?
Wow, thats sound like a fucking awesome challange. For me that sound really hard, i suck at MR and RR tuning.
Build year 1979?
guys. it’s 1980. the 95ron fuel doesn’t exist in 1979.
Ahh 95 oktan. More boooost! This car will be really tricky. But abtime und er 8:00 should be no Problem.
Yes, sorry for confusion, the build year is 1980.
EDIT: Added thumbnail of the body to be used. Also corrected, it is indeed from 1970 to 1980, not the decade before
