Hey guys, as a lot of you might know by now, Grand Theft Auto 5 will be coming out on PC tomorrow. Since many people here use PC’s for gaming, we thought we’d create an Automation GTA crew just in case you want to mess about with some of the fellow Automationers.
The crew is public so just join as you please by clicking here.
I might join once I finally finish downloading and unpacking it and all that and make sure everything is working and play the single player for a while.
It really is. In first person it’s a phenomenally well made virtual world. And they actually managed to optimize it quite well, my computer is almost exactly like the recommended hardware and at 1080p it’s really smooth with everything set to high quality except anti-aliasing which I have only FXAA. Compare it to Dragon Age: Inquisition which has similar hardware requirements but I have to turn down a lot of the settings and resolution to play it smoothly.
I think I’m gonna play through the whole single player before looking at multiplayer, even though I already played it through on the xbox 360. I have missed the characters after the xbox version’s disc broke.
I wish there were more and longer dirt roads for rallying with a Futo
Rockstar have got too much from me for this game. I had the PS3 version at launch, I got my PS4 GTA Bundle on launch day, and I’ll probably end up getting it for PC as well. I am definitely sucked in to it.
As you say though, so good. It almost feels like the it would just keep on going regardless of if you were there or not. (well, I guess it kinda does really)
I just joined. Got through the single player last night so I finally checked out what online is like. Made a cute female character, just because it was an option. You’ll most likely find me tearing down dirt roads in the fake Corolla (my drifts probably sending me flying way out of the road) or leisurely bicycling around not giving a f…
I don’t have a job and I also played it through earlier on the xbox 360 so this was my second playthrough and thus easier
Is this sad or what: I’m racing alone because I hate random people crashing into me. Well at least I’m winning! And at least I can break the crew’s lap times in peace.
Hmm… I might be taking the racing in this game a bit too seriously. I’ve even been thinking about writing actual pace notes for some of the rally stage type of roads, to be read by a co-driver (outside of the game’s actual “rally” races)
What amazes me about the attention to detail in GTA V is that the cars actually have realistic cooling mechanics… The temperature gauge actually works, and takes into account your speeds affect on cooling… So if you smash up the car it starts overheating, but drive fast and you can watch the temps drop.
I don’t even think BeamNG has that kind of detail yet.
Saw some of you tonight. Didn’t say anything because I couldn’t think of anything… Should we try to do something together some time? It’s somehow a little less annoying for me to lose a race if the other participants aren’t completely random strangers.
A bit of a rant follows:
I’ve only managed to win 3 races, mostly because I try to drive clean even when other players just want to play bumper cars. Sure there’s an option for no contact racing (and those can get quite annoying too because the other players are seen as ghost cars that bundle up and distract the heck out of me) but almost no-one wants to do those. Always damn supercars + traffic on. So often I’ve quickly gained first and then, when braking properly in a tight corner, someone plows into me full speed so that I fly way out of the track. The winners generally seem to be the ones who are good at ramming other players and avoiding getting spun out by them, which I don’t see as fun racing. At least I usually finish in the top 3 even when there are a lot of players in a race. Just a while ago I was in a race with 8 cars, started from seventh place and I had the slowest car, but I still came second (the other people with way faster cars couldn’t handle them). I wouldn’t even care about winning otherwise but the engine, brake, transmission and turbo upgrades require wins in that specific car’s class to unlock, and you need something like 50 wins for the top tier upgrades. That’s gonna take me forever of playing all day every day unless I can get into races where everyone would at least try not to crash into each other. Yes yes, I know this ain’t really a racing game but I’d just once in a while like to have a nice clean race. Or if podium finishes could be counted towards unlocking things (at least when the race has more than 3 players), that’d be a nice alternative but I doubt they’ll ever change that.
Another thing: It’s a bit odd that the game doesn’t have any kind of dedicated race track (except for horses even though the game doesn’t even have horses in it). The map is certainly large enough to fit at least a small basic race track or karting track somewhere and it feels like something I would expect to find but no. At least I haven’t noticed one and I’ve been just about everywhere. The area of the horse racing track could’ve been the perfect spot for a car racing track. I would’ve even settled for a basic oval. Sure I can just pretend the horse track is for cars but that’s just dumb when a NASCAR type of track or maybe something similar to Laguna Seca (scaled down a bit) would make more sense in that world.
Pleb + his friend, Pyrlix, and I has quite a lot of fun yesterday doing some heists, races, and survivals. We had contact throughout the races but it was funny just because we were chatting on skype.
Would be interesting to see more people on, we could all do some survivals or something of the sort.
Im always looking for people to play with and would enjoy meeting a few from here ill be on most of the time at night here in the states. You can find me on Steam GT: Chipx7
I’all try to wake up at less ridiculous hours this weekend so I can play with you.
As for racing, I have gotten fairly decent at it and if I had tips to give:
Learn the best cars for each class, there are a few lists out there, just make sure its not too old. In the off road class for example, the Sanchez is by far the best.
Stay away from very fast tracks with super cars, like the airport tracks, those are just ram fests. On tighter tracks it is usually possible to win using skill.
For motorbike races, use the wheelee speed boost. I have been called a hacker a few times in stock off-road/bike/utility races. Nothing can beat a wheeleeing faggio in stock utility races.
