AUTOMATION PRO LEAGUE 3rd Round: 1955 NASCAR Closed due to lack of interest

DITCH! DITCH! DITCH! DITCH! DITCH! DITCH!

sorry John butā€¦ wellā€¦ itā€™s that or obnoxious flame decals

Right, so I do believe an explanation is in order.

As some of you may know, Iā€™m a law student. This semester I am taking many classes being taught by practitioners. So, instead of reading law and amassing pages of notes for one comprehensive exam at the end of the year, Iā€™m doing many more weekly assignments that are all aimed at honing my advocacy and/or writing skills.

Now, believe it or not, I do not enjoy writing. I think that Iā€™m a relatively good writer, but legal writing and the things that I have produced on these forums are not one in the same. The issue Iā€™m running into is that I literally have been teaching myself how to write again in this new style that does not mesh with the techniques and style I have adopted over the entirety of my previous academic career. As such that requires a huge amount of time to be given to the drafting, editing, and overall writing process.

As such, I donā€™t want to hold these challenges up because my schedule will not allow me to devote time to it. I felt bad that it took me two weeks to write the reviews you just read. If it wasnā€™t for a peculiarly slow day at work last weekend, I still wouldnā€™t have had the time to do them, and this weekend is not looking any more favorable. Therefore, Iā€™m stepping down from the announcer position, effective immediately.

It has been a pleasure reviewing your cars. I do enjoy the community we have built up here and I am filled with immense pride to see people from all over the globe appreciate my thoughts about your cars. It never ceases to amaze me that a community like this can come together, build some virtual cars, and craft a whole reality, a story, or a lineage off of some numbers in a computer game. I hope that these two rounds of reviews helped create that immersion for you all that can bring challenges like these to life.

I will miss being the announcer, but if our new Racemaster, @Nomade0013, will have it, I would be happy to stick around and provide editing services to the new announcer, whoever that may be, should my schedule allow for it. Proofreading these reviews is hard and only increases in difficulty with larger numbers of entries. I apologize for any brutalization of the English language I have made you suffer.

I hope to see this challenge thrive moving forward and will be keeping up with it. Perhaps Iā€™ll finally be able to enter a round should the engine capacity limits become more 'Murica friendly. Until then, best of luck and thanks for the support. To @Darkshine5, thanks for putting these challenges together and for letting me play a part in their execution. To the competitors, thank you for providing me interesting designs to laud or mercilessly pick apart.

It has been fun, and Iā€™ll see yā€™all on the virtual track and perhaps even back in the announcer role one day in the future.

Yeah, ive been looking around on the forums for similar challenges around the same time period, but im not too sure what to limit the engines to. I know that ill limit the engine type to a V8 for simplicity, but im not too sure about the displacement

They sound good and fun, just need a little of research to see what should be limited at the engine

new round rules posted. Can be found in post 2

The best ā€œlookingā€ points will no longer be part of the scoring

How about putting a link to the Nascar track? Iā€™m too lazy to search for it myself

Impossible to reach. Well, at least if you want your cars look other than this:

Beautiful.

Help?

Yeah, I had some trouble with the tyre width. I fixed it with more quality on the tyres, but thats the only real way to reach that minimum width. maybe the min tyre width should be reduced.

{edit} Scratch that. Even with the quality it still looks silly. the tyre width should be reduced to at least 175mm

ok since it your ruleset I will change the tyre width. The reason I had it set at 205 was to increase difficulty of the builds, I found that with the bodies that were over .600M2 tyres were easily able to reach that minimum width with a few positive points and a smart buildā€¦oh well such is life

What happens when Birch Motors team up with some englishmen and send the finished product to NASCAR?

Hellraiser happens.

Not deprived in any way from the song by Motƶrhead. Shh!

Thereā€™s a white spot on the picture AGAIN! Jesus.

Is that with cooling set to 0 (that would be annoying because you only get to know this after you have build a car) or with minimum cooling?

If you go to the bodies, and pick a body, you can see the effective area, thats the base aero efficiency. Any body with a base aero efficiency less than 0.600m2 is banned. For example, in the car below, its base aero is 0.846m2, hence it is allowed. It should also be noted that the base aero is without body morphing.

No problem

Iā€™ve only got @Detsikeulii entry so far and due to a lot of big challenges having the deadline close to this one we are willing to extend the deadline until Monday (27/02)!
