How the tournament works & Tournament Rules

Each round everyone makes an automation replica of a specific IRL car. The main purpose of this challenge is to give you an opportunity to advance your design skills, because I believe that the best way to learn designing automation cars is via replicating what actual proffesional designers did before.

Making a replica doesn't mean that the design process is much less interesting or creative though. As you find yourself trying to make the exact shapes and proportions of the IRL model, you will have to show your prowess in using the tools which automation (and Steam Workshop mods) gives you.

Please, pay close attention to the full πŸ‘‰ Tournament Rules .

Background to the round

For the second round, I decided to pay a visit to the 90's America. We'll be doing the 1998-2012 Ford Crown Victoria. You can make either a normal "civilian" version, the police car, or a NYC taxi cab. Doing the Mercury Grand Marquis/Marauder, or Lincoln Town Car is also allowed.

For reference, use the following πŸ‘‰ Google images .

For the design, use the following automation body: Boat 1987 Sedan (87_us_sedan_4door_M_alt_cpp)

The Boat replaced a legacy body set, so it’s no surprise we’re using it. But why are we making a replica of a post-facelift example?

Probably because because the post facelift ones are more well known.

This particular body fits the 1998 model very well if you play around with the morphs.

It’d be possible to make the 1992 version too, but I rather chose the 2nd gen because I like it better.

Yeah, the roof seems to match the 1998 version, not the earlier models.
