Automations fastest cars

I have been playing the game non-stop for 12hrs now :stuck_out_tongue:

Ehehe, we’re so proud

Has there been an update since these records were set? Even using the same shell as the current record holder I get stuck at around 346.2mph (557.2km/h). The engine i’m using gets 3336bhp (2487kW) @ 7300RPM and redlines at 8000RPM with very little power loss.

No, no update since then  mid-January will be the next round of people trying to build the fastest car :stuck_out_tongue:

Damn, there goes my excuse then :frowning:

Oh my god. I thougt my 529 mph car is fast. ^^

do you mean 529km/h, because 529mph is a hell of a lot faster than we are getting (excluding anyone who edits the lua files to give impossibly high engine quality)

Yes it’s km/h.

How many of these cars actually work?

practically? probably none ;D

I mean in the game. I would guess that most of the cars, maybe all except the first one have an MTBF of 0. Some cars are only cooled upto 200-300kw but go over 500km which would require something like 2000-3000 hp (sorry for mixing hp and kw). Not sure, but I think I noticed that a lack of cooling on the car has a negative effect on the MTBF. If we’re going to try to make the fastest car we should at work in game with a minimum MTBF. Pretty sure this was discussed on a most powerful engine thread. I’ve been playing a sandbox where I’m trying to make a model lineup. Since efficiency isn’t ready for the car designer I’m just doing race cars but I want each engine to last at least 10000MTBF. Also I’m finding it’s a nice challenge just to vent the car, maybe we can get some hood scoops? Either way, I’m sure when the tycoon portion of the game comes out a 0 MTBF will mean a non working vehicle and a bad reputation. Speaking of which, will there be an MTBF system and quality sliders for the car designer as well?

Sure there will be a quality system and MTBF penalties for not enough cooling. The next update will already bring that penalty plus an aerodynamic efficiency penalty for vents. That will limit top speed if you still want to have a MTBF > 0. And probably the tank will be empty before the car has reached top speed. Fuel consumption is coming, too.

When the Car Designer is finished, the cars in this thread will be damn unreliable, not tame to drive (very high power to weight ratio, wheelspin in all gears, turbo hole), maybe not even very sporty because of bad weight distribution and bad cornering, gas guzzlers, expensive, have a huge service cost… I think you know what I mean. I bet none of the models in this thread would have been sold more than 3 times in the full game.

I thought the penalty for vents already works, might be mistaken but I thought that when I loaded a working engine in a car with insufficient cooling, it did have a negative effect on the engine MTBF when I went to revise it from the model designer.

When we make the fastest cars in the game it’s more for like F1 racing purposes where you really only need 1 car (as long as it can last a race) and your not selling it. I’m sure the F1 type stuff isn’t going into the tycoon game (maybe one day) BUT, perhaps the tycoon game can incorporate something like a crazy prestige car that you can build a limited run of, doesn’t have to be reliable (several high end sports cars are known to have poor reliability), just has to have good specs and look nice, I’m sure some rich guy from Dubai would buy one. Kind of like the Bugatti. I hear that VW sells each one at a heavy loss pretty much just because they wanted to make the craziest car ever.It will be expensive but it technically doesn’t need to sell, but it can give the company a prestige bonus or marketing points or something… news headline saying ā€œ(Company Name Here) builds world’s fastest car.ā€ and sales might start to pick up, at least for a performance/luxury brand, maybe a company focusing on economy might produce an expensive high tech car with good mileage for a similar kind of bonus. Could even expand this into an early tech bonus, so the more new tech your company introduces to the industry could help the company reputation as well.

I know there is more coming, MPG and driving comfort, even saw MTBF based on engine size, all sounds pretty good. But we will work with what we have for now and be happy with it.

Right, the MTBF penalty is already in the public version, but it’s not very present at the moment (i. e. not in the final testing screen).

If I remember correctly, the devs had something like a prestige bonus in mind if you build the car that holds the current speed record. It still should be a somewhat sensible car in my opinion (Veyron is pretty lame compared to cars in this thread), we’ll see how it works out in the final game.

Agreed…

Veyron is just an example of a ā€˜sensible’ car like your saying, and I think those things are built to last around 10 years (under regular use, not top speed). The cars on this thread are pretty crazy on paper, but they won’t drive anywhere, so the top speed should actually be 0. I’m sure this will be covered by the car design MTBF system. These guys’ companies would go bankrupt just through warranties.

So, I’ve been trying to build a faster car, just for giggles, but I’m getting frustrated by the transmission. I can’t seem to find a way to get it to go above 290MPH tops. I’ve tried 3-9 gear ratios, spacing gears from minimum ot maximum and everything in between, putting my engine in a different platform, everything, but the transmission just won’t allow me to go past 290MPH. The only possibility I’ve found is to switch to AWD, which lets me put in a higher top speed, but doesn’t allow me to use my engine. When I switch back to RWD and put my engine back in, the transmission still reads the higher speed, but the game still only recognizes it as 290MPH. I think the current record here is 353.3 MPH, how is that even possible?

The maximum gear ratio of the transmission is limited. To make the car (potentially) go faster, you have to rev the engine higher.

Hehe, I dropped 1.4L off my engine and raised the RPM from 6000 to 8500. Now the game crashes whenever I try to adjust the top speed. I guess it’s just not meant to be. =\

[EDIT] Found out why, submitting bug report.

350mph, just… HAOW?! :astonished:

My 9.4L monster engine is insane, and I cannot tune it any further… And yet, it cannot propel my vehicle at more than 330mph

As you can see below, the damned thing doesn’t even fit properly, and even with its power, cannot move past 330mph. I NEED ASSISTANCE  :frowning:

There is definitely more room for improvement in the engine, at a guess I would say it is with the turbo but I could be wrong. My engine gets warnings for approaching both the torque limit and the RPM limit of the bottom end parts

edit
i just looked at my best engine that fits in the car and it only gets 30.5PSI at 7000 RPM, however, i did notice that my engine was a 9.6L, so perhaps you made a poor choice with the bore/stroke settings to fit the engine in the car (mine is 112.8mm bore, max stroke)
