AVUS Grosser Preis von Berlin 1991 [FINISHED, RESULT INSIDE]

Yes, afaik every extra hp makes you a little bit faster. But don’t underestimate the influence of the cassis Cd value.

Well, this sux, I cannot make anything go even near fast enough!

The best I’ve seen is 325km/h-ish for a C50 car… Which class was that car which is attempting to better 360Km/h?

I only ask because I’m feeling rather frustrated atm and I need some yardsticks to gauge whether I’m in the ballpark or not,

I’m getting around 450hp from my 1.2l turbocharged V6 currently, but my consumption is pretty awful. Now to put it in a car…

Do we have a chart of Cd values? Cause I’m using the “not MR2” body, and it looks like it’s a brick

P.S: The 360+ class is c60

A short reminder to all, dont forget to state your nationality and company name, it looks ugly if I have to leave those open.

Vri404 and CadillacDave were ok, but Spax for example did not.

Also, I hope everyone understands that I cannot announce exact horsepower and top speeds for the classes, that would be a bit unfair and against competitive spirit.

Just let me say so much, some of you made first estimations on the last pages and those figures are invariable too low.

Well the only reason I deemed stating 360 as a safe reveal is because it was the top speed of previous year with less powerful engines. So, no harm done, I hope.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Company: Sandcastle.
Nationality: Let’s say… Canadian.

When is the deadline? I seem to have derped and can’t find that post

I see no problem if people exchange info how to find the best setup. I just meant that I as host cannot reveal exact information.

Of course you need to factor in that those times were reached with Porsches, and the not a Porsche 356 body is the undisputed king of the AVUS. Porsche 356 C60 with a 1600 Turbo engine would reach ~400 km/h under the 1991 rules.

Top speed for a body other than Porsche was Koolkei’s 318.8 km/h with a 1000 cc Turbo engine / performance intake, but “only” 313 hp (vs 400 hp for the 3 top dogs nialloftara / markus 817 / strop), so there is still room for improvement.

yeah… 400hp out of a 1l…
and i cant pump out more than 360hp out of a 1.2l.
what magic did they used?

more boost? lol i’m at the point where increasing boost doesn’t even increase performance anymore. why? because 32PSI boost

Lowering compression and increasing boost seemed to work for me, however my torque/power curves are so bad that my car will only do about 178mph even after messing around with the gears. Any higher and the top speed just plummets, any advice on this would be much appreciated.

group the gears closer together so youre spending more time in the power zone.

I also had that, car would hardly get from the spot and take ages to complete 1 lap. Play a bit with the transmission, it should do the trick.

Phew! I’ve finally submitted my cars and I’m going to lose!

I tweaked, twerked and massaged my cars for all it was worth but NONE of them hold a candle to Strop/Nialloftara’s entry from the last race! Those cars must have been running on witchcraft to be so fast, .

I’m looking forward to seeing what top speeds the winner ends up achieving :ugeek: .

I blame the highly cool and lightweight and aerodynamic (probably) not356 body

Hm, yes, but no.
Not more than 1-2 seconds bonus for the Porsche.
This could make me ichting to run the 1000cc class again, without Porsches of course, to see how far they can go this time.

Little update on page 1 about the current cars I have received.

As to what makes a car really good in its class. I would say 50% is horsepower. The other 50% cost. A good engine makes you so fast, but in order to go further you must think out of the box. What exactly makes your car cost as much as it does? Generally if you can minimalize certain unimportant parts, you may be able maximize some others. I hope that helps a little bit.

Also afaik there are several good chassis this time, which is good. But if you have a bad chassis, you have practically no chance.
