I’m gonna do well (Unlike 1990.) I fucking hope. Was running mid pack times from '90, so I may do well.
Right now you all have good chances because none of the wizards has entered anything.
Also I noticed there seem to be serious bugs with respect to total cost per car which can make this a totally frustrating experience. When I change engines for example, the cost sometimes jumps up by 200% and then stays there even if I switch back (sticks even after a restart). That means once a car file is fubar it is not possible to say if the cost per car is realistic.
So any competitive car should be build from scratch, without any tinkering.
I made a NA test car for 60 class and I can say that it is faster than my 90 model, even with a pitstop.
The C60 class is definitely faster than last year, the C50 on par or slightly faster.
Seriously looking forward to this now. Feb 12th can’t come soon enough.
I usually want to have 14 days. That’s stupidly long for those who take part in the beginning, but can’t change that now.
Also a few things that have been going through my mind for a future event.
Running another x cm³/$ challenge would not be very interesting, after we get two years results it would just be a repetition. I’m therefore thinking of something entirely different.
Year would probably be 1995, so we have a few more chassis and technology to select from. Or another year, depending on my finds.
Pit stop rule stays, perhaps different and adjusted pit stop time, also depending on finds. But it is a good rule.
One class would be a truly unlimited class (CU). No limit on cc or tyres, only reliability stays. Go nuts and build cars that go 500-600 km/h. Could be interesting to have a more variation and engines running, though it’d be probably be a cc race.
Second would be AVUS Sportscar of the Year (SC). The aim is to build a car that is both fast and cheap. I would add up time (in seconds plus fraction) plus total cost per car to get a total number. Car with the lowest aggregate number wins. Time would include the pit stop time over 1000km (calculated per lap), so fuel is still a factor. Cost must be reduced by a factor otherwise this could be a bit stupid (because car with <10K automatically wins). I could for example divide by 5,000 then 5,000$ = 1 second. Have to see what numbers make sense. Not sure about displacement. There might be minimum cost and maximum lap time limit, to prevent extreme outliers in the formula.
Third class could be another x cm³/$ challenge, if there is still interest. By then I should have the turbo/NA handicap nailed down to a perfect value, so it may still be somewhat interesting. On the other hand we already know what a big influence chassis have.

I suggest we implement a minimum safety requirement if we go past 1994, since well, imola, Senna, new rules for safety and we should do so too. Running at 360+ in a car that disintegrates once somebody sneezes in it is not a great idea. Unlimited class, or not, safety should be even stricter for the higher speed classes.

Yeah, everybody seems to go with 50, so it’s a pretty good place to start. Also why not have a top speed world record attempt, there are a couple of tracks that allow this, bonneville is the most evil one cause it’s not an endless stretch, but an actual 6km runway and the last km is a separate section of 1 km. We can do the maths and to find our average.
Average speed or top speed?
Average speed = 60:00 / Lap time * 8.3km
For example, 2:00 min laptime = 249km/h average
Was actually planning to calculate average speed, but it’s no different than lap time, except if you use only one sector time.
not on avus. On Bonneville. You measure the average on the last kilometer only.
I think that 50 would be too much for pre2000. It would add a lot of weight and cost if we are talking any cost restrictions. I would suggest 30 max 40.
