Best car overall [Scores Posted]

This is my first contest submission

PM me a zip file with the 4 .lua files of the car (rename the files to “playername-Engines-Models.lua”, “playername-Engines-Platforms.lua”, “playername-Cars-Platforms.lua” and “playername-Cars-Trims.lua”, only edit "playername"with the 4 files

The same as Der Bayers submissions.

Or go tab by tab listing all of your settings in a PM So I can recreate the car in the steam version. (this is primarily for the new players)

Deadline Friday April 3 midnight Mountain GMT -6

We will not do the cosmetics voting this time.

The challenge is to build the best all round car.
Things that will be considered are
Drivability
Sportiness
Comfort
Prestige
Safety
Average Reliability
fuel Economy
Total Cost
service costs
Practicality
Emissions
Utility
Offroad

Rules:
One car per person.
Year: 2015
Body: all ingame, or any from the 3d Artist modding forum.
Fuel: any from regular to super, if you really want to you can use Low Quality
No race tubular, semi-slicks, or Bypass Valves.
No front wings (pedestrian safety)
No exploits, or cheating
Other than that build what you want.

Calculations:
Yearly costs
Low Quality Unleaded $1.50
Regular Unleaded $2.00
Premium Unleaded $2.25
Super Unleaded $2.50
12,000 miles per year driven
Lifespan will be taken as 1/5 of the average reliability in years

Yearly cost=total cost/lifespan+servicecost+(12,000/fuel economy)*fuelcost

Capability = sqrt(drivability)+sqrt(Sportiness)+sqrt(Comfort)+sqrt(Prestige)+sqrt(Safety)+sqrt(Utility)+sqrt(practicality)+sqrt(offroad)

Score = Capability/(sqrt(yearly cost)+sqrt(emissions))

Example
Drivablity 30.5
Sportines 0
Comfort 44.7
Prestige 28
Safety 68.5
Practicality 153.99
Utility 212.36
Offroad 23.26
Reliability 72.6
Fuel economy 14.9
Cost $16,487
Service Cost $2,541
Fuel cost $2.50/gallon (super Unleaded)
Emissions 2817

The lifespan = 14.52 years
Yearly cost $5,690.19
Capability 57.58

Score .44807

I am attempting to make it so that one big score doesn’t make up for reducing a bunch of medium scores.
Let me know what you think and what might need tweaked. I want to start submissions on March 27th.

Example score sheet attached, in open office format.

Very interesting. I look forward to this. I like the openness with your calculations.

Im definatly gonna edit a car for this

I can’t seem to find practicality, service cost and offroad in my game. anyone can help?

Last test screen under detailed stats. Using the steam version.

thanks Zabhawkin

The steam version is a little different, Tameness is the same as drivability, and practicality is only on the steam version. Once submissions start pm me the car, though since you have the stand alone and you are new to the game just go from tab to tab listing all of the settings so I can recreate on the steam version.

I am thinking on adding a cosmetic because a good car should also be appealing to the eye.

Once the submissions are in I will post a set of pictures of each entry with no names and everyone who wants to vote (you don’t need to have an entry to vote) picks their 3 favorites in order.

first choice will get 3 points second 2 third 1. I will assign bonus points depending on how the scores come out so as to not dominate the score. Probably in-bed it into the score calculations like a regular stat.

not sure if I should feedback to the developer to make steam and non-steam version to have both practicality? It is a hassle to go through everything and key into steam, lol

The non-steam version will eventually receive updates, but since the Steam version is their hot product right now they are concentrating on that first.

Edit: Hey Zab… is your sheet supposed to automatically calculate out scores? You’ve set up an ODS file, which when I open in Excel, any calculations it may have break. If so, can you make a version of the spreadsheet on GoogleDocs? GoogleDocs will allow me to properly convert and save as an XLS.

Ill look into it.

Just looked at this again and noticed that the sqrt of utility is in there twice. I presume this is a mistake, as that would give an insane bonus to cars with high utility.

Edit: Also hope I’m not overstepping here, but I made an Excel version of the score calculation sheet. Just plug numbers into the BLUE squares only and it calculates. I verified the calculations vs. the test values that Zab presented in the original post and they’re accurate. This version of the sheet also allows you to compare the scores of multiple cars.

It was a typo on the rules sheet, my calculator was correct.

Not a problem, I had only done mine for the first line, easy enough to make it work with multiples so I didn’t worry about doing it.

I figured as much. Since the calculations worked out without the double utility.

Hoping my entry was readable and doesn’t throw errors. Everything was great, I copied the files and sent them, and the next time I got into Automation I couldn’t open them. :frowning:

Assuming my entry has no troubles…

Presenting the Bogliq Katrina AE!!! :sunglasses:  :sunglasses:  :sunglasses:

In my opinion, regardless of the competition outcome, this car closely represents my version of the best car overall for me :ugeek:  :ugeek:  :ugeek:

Don’t worry, something tells me that I will have a bunch of very unique entries that span across wildly different classes.
