The fourth generation, 1976, Fury 500 introduces several changes. Improved performance, better brakes as well as corrosion resistant panels. All past colors for this specific car model were brought back as optional upgrades. It, as usual, seats four people in standard interior and entertains them with a standard 8 track system with four speakers. State of the art safety features keep the occupants safe in case of an accident. The car saw widespread popularity in multiple market segments, including utility, family sport premium and muscle/muscle premium.

The Fury 670, introduced in 1978, is the mid tier performance trim. Featuring the same interior specs as the 500, the Fury 670 has bigger brakes as well as more power and different badging. At only $5902 ($22191 today), the Fury 670 hits a 268km/h top speed (166mp/h) and reaches 100km/h in just 5.5 seconds.

With the Fury 670, a premium version started being offered. Priced at $7509 ($28232 today), the car has a nice, premium quality interior and 8 track entertainment as well as hydropneumatic springs for better comfort. The popularity of this trim was high in the GT, GT Premium and Muscle premium segments, being seen as an affordable grand tourer. The car was widely criticized for it’s abhorrent fuel economy in car magazines.

The Fury 850 started its sales in 1980, featuring a top speed of 289km/h (179mp/h) and 0-100km/h in just 4.9 seconds. The mighty 8.5L Sagittarius V8 produces 561hp and 757Nm of torque and features performance improvements. The in house developed Event Horizon DCOE quad carb setup with racing intakes was tuned and still runs on 92RON regular fuel. The Mk4 Fury 850 also marks the end of the Sagittarius V8 engine family as it was going to be replaced by a new, high tech engine named the Quasar, a reference to an object in space called a quasar with very high energy output. Starting at $9708 ($28879 today), the car mainly sold as a premium muscle car.
Since premium upgrades were now being offered, the Fury 850 also had a premium option. Starting at $10965 ($32621 today), it was very popular in the GT Premium segment. It features premium interior and entertainment, better suspension that’s softer and also adaptive power steering.
The Fury 850 Premium was also offered with an in house developed computer controller gearbox called AIShift. This upgrade was only a couple of bucks more expensive and greatly boosted the drivability of the car while retaining most of the performance. Very popular in the Muscle premium ,GT and GT premium segments.
