BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [RACE 7 P&Q]

NOT a track suited for my car. But then it is not a very good engine, too much low- mid-end power. Should have made it smaller.

Posting updated race strategy spreadsheet for Brands Hatch.

For 8 seconds I had the fastest qualifying lap, frustrating driving one spot before Pyrlix! This track looks like it will be supercramped, with 3rd position to 57th position within a 2 second difference gap pit strategy and weather conditions will make huge impacts. Good luck all!

And Packbat, thank you once again for great intel and tools on pit strats

I hope 11 people faster then me crash, then I get points

^half the field please.

and even then i’d still only in the middle of the field. :frowning:

It seems my car is an extremely consistent qualifier, once again at P31. How does qualifying performance stack up in general? Is there much variability?

There is at least a certain amount, I’ve been pushing for pole some races, others, 6th. And given the gaps are bigger out of the pack, that’s a fair bit. Puffster seems to be swinging around a lot I’ve noticed.

I think really it’s more of a coincidence than anything else.

and my car… somehow the better it qualifies, the worse it races.

True, I’ve been from 1st to 12th position in qualifiers, swinging quite a bit, but not too much in relation to final position except for when multiple crashes happened

I’m all over the place. First race I qualified 8th (I think) or 9th, or top ten anyway. Last race I think I was 25th, and I’ve been in the teens at least once.

Hello.

Some more car reviews are up. One has been up for the better part of a week and the other for a day. I have been a bit to busy to post the notification here.

At 64 views most of you all have probably seen part 4.

Watching it now, 2:21 for a FWD Push rod? Madness I say!

Mua-ha-ha-ha-ha-HA-HA! Glad to be of service!

(Assuming Der Bayer’s going with displacement-based rules for BRC 1976, it might be a bit harder to make that work in the future … but I may give it another try anyway.)

Yeah, like I said in the other thread, OHV aren’t competitive. You need big displacement to get serious power but that’s all eaten up by the weight limit. They should probably get 10-20% preferred weight treatment.

it can be competitive here. it’s using power to weight ration not displacement to weight ratio.
no matter what valve you choose, as long as it meets or below the limit, it’s okay. even when the hp/liter is low

on the other one, it’s all about hp/liter, which imo, that itself is already ruling out OHV

Should OHV be competitive?

on this one? why not? it’s lower efficiency may be made up with the lower cost?

With simple power/weight rules maybe, but not the 76 ones.

hence why i said here i could be competitive here, but not on the 76 endurance

OHV is an inferior design when it comes to racing, since it has so much moving weight, thus a lot of mechanical losses and less dynamic performance.

It works fine in low rev applications and in cases where cheapness is mandatory. (Don’t start with the LSx engines, americans. Looking at you, cobaltgirl and Lordred)

Why should the rules benefit an inferior design? The rules are those, and the most suitable solutions should prevail, as in most racing.
