I believe if two cars crash, the damage will be spread according to weight (possibly speed). Now how much will it affect your car is down to durability. At least I think

@07CobaltGirl as someone that used 1 strategy for all the races in '66, and only doing strats per race now. i agree actually.
And safety.
As I understand it, it works like this.
A number is generated based on the severity of the crash, half (or close to) is given to each car. That number is affected by safety and the weight of the car, and that is your damage.
So a heavy, safe car will probably (but not always) take less damage than a lighter, less safe car that it collides with.
The Big Bad Van could turn out to be Bad indeed. 1640kg will make a dent in anything.

I am unsure if the weight of the cars colliding actually affects the raw damage for the crash to be honest.
