BRC 1976 - Under Pressure [E8-Q]

I have been out of town - when is the next strategy deadline or are things still being fixed?

No deadline yet, check posts 1348-49

I couldā€™ve done an ultralight car, but it would need a some big spoilers, and with more down force, it needs more torque and power, so it needs a bigger engine, so i could only do a 700 kg car even though i have a 500 kg chassis.

For brc 198X i could maybe do a 600 kg car but it probably would have no grip because the tyres would have to be thin for minimum weight. but it probably wouldnā€™t even have much power, so it is possible, and i think most people will not go over 950 kg for their cars in the next brc. the car would probably go like this: space frame steel chassis, rear transverse mounted engine, fiberglass body, 1.2 litre engine naturally aspirated with fuel injection, 17 inch 245 alloy wheels and basically the softest suspension possible.

It makes no sense to think about the BRC86 as I havenā€™t really started thinking about a theme and or rules yet.

The edit function: itā€™s a thing.

Also, this is all speculative. We have no idea what the next BRC will entail or what the tracks will favor.

I actually did quite a lot of testing with ultralight cars (below 750kg) and there is one recurring problem: Lack of power. While they would perform very well in the twisty parts of the track they simply lacked the grunt to keep up on the straights, and in this series there are several high speed tracks and even the regular ones have stretches where you would lose too much time to be competitive. I believe if you had chosen another body type and spent a little more time on tuning you would probably be in a better position than currently. But hey itā€™s a learning process right?

Just my two cents, no need to listen to the one who leads in one category: damage taken

maybe some sort of engine expert could have done it. I mean like someone who could make a 800 cc engine produce 150 hp.

My car is one of the lightest with 857 kg and a 2,1 L V12 on 299 hp. It is not fast enough on the straights but it has great acceleration and cornering. it took some points in the last race but I have higher hopes on the twistier tracks.

My original car that i decided to trash weighed 850 kg also but it was a very thirsty car.

150hp would be nowhere near enough to get a good enough top speed, at the end of the day weight has very little to do with how fast you can go flat out, just how fast you can get to that top speed.

EDIT: Yep just did a quick and dirty test build and my 1 litre turbo (with 154 hp and astonishingly good in-game economy) could only just get over 200 kph. All the cornering gā€™s in the world canā€™t make up for that

Ok, i guess my old car wouldā€™ve been even more screwed than my new one is.

Thatā€™s not to mention the 2:23 time round the ATT with a quick tune (or about 2:27 without), well outside 110%

wow. itā€™s that bad. i should NOT have gone with my old car.

I ran into some similar problems, I tried to make a lore friendly NA car, but it was never good enough, barely in the 110%.

So I tried a turbo car with a much smaller engine, (again slightly bending the story to make it lore friendly for my company). Thatā€™s the car I currently have in the competition, and it is slow! (bottom 10), but efficient! (I can easily do a 1 pit strat if the weather was more cooperative).

Edit: And on top of that, I couldnā€™t even fit the largest regulation tires on it, I have 245s all around (265s are the max by regulations)

Challengeā€¦ Accepted.

Very quick and dirty of course. Iā€™m sure thereā€™s more time to be shaved off were there any reason to tweak further.
(Also yes, it is indeed a bit of a handful.)

Edit: Same engine in the notporsche body will do the ATT flying lap in under 2:10 no problem (weighing 750kg). Green hell was 8:15ish, which is sort of okay, hocki 2:28.something so not particularly fast.

So what was itā€™s time?

If that wouldve had the ability to get 265 tires it certainly couldve been a contender

I donā€™t even wanna look at the stearing wheel at high speed.:fearful:

Iā€™ve also just seen the 1.29 g cornering at practically top speed!
