Building a new PC: can car library be carried over?

Hi all, I’m planning on building a new PC soon. I know automation data is all saved locally, and I was wondering if there is a better way of bringing my cars over than creating a huge folder of .cars and importing them all. Not opposed to doing that if I need to, the library could stand to be cleaned up a bit anyways. However if there is a less time consuming way of bringing everything over, I’d probably take that route.

Thanks!

I think that by now the Steam Cloud syncs Automation sandbox data, but don’t quote me on that. I have more certainty in that you can just copy the entire folder with the saves and all that and put it on the new PC and it should work.

If I were you I’d first make a backup of the whole folder on the old PC, install Auto on the new PC and see if Steam sync does its thing, and if not then I’d try copying the whole folder from the old PC and replacing the new PC one with the copy.

(being me I just continuously upgrade the „same” PC since 2011, but that’s kinda beside the point  however, putting the old disk in the new PC -even temporarily - might make things easier)

I recently built a new computer and i just brought over my old hard drive to the new rig. Maybe you can do something like that and then copy over the .car files to the new drive…

Or linking the new rig with the old via ethernet(?) and transfer the files that way.

Or put them all on a thumb drive and transfer.

Might get lucky and sign in on the new rig and all of your files may download from the cloud…idk.
