so i decided to make my own run of engines unfortunately pictures only show the engine for me sowwwwwwwy ill fix it at one point anyways heres the engines
1st engine: 2.7L I4 DOHC DI TURBO 20V
it makes 124 horsepower at its 4 thousand rpm redline yet during driving (aka 2000 rpm) it makes a decent 80horsepower but a astonishing 220 torques it only makes 44 emissions has a noise of 29.2 and a smoothness of 56.6 and a 34.6 responsiveness it aint no sports car engine but it dose the job and its efficiency is a whopping 33.22%! it runs on premium gas which isnt that bad it isnt highest octane gas but with its efficency you wont be needing that many trips to the pump its mbtbf is 52370.1 and it weights 373 pounds with a cost of 1697.27 so pick one up today
now this engine is for those that want to get efficiency and get some more power this is basically the sport engine it has 271hp at the 4 thousand redline and at 2000 normal driving rpm 160horsepower but a huge 430 torques its on premium but thats so its cheap to use its more efficient then the 1st engine making a bigger 34.33% efficiency it makes 43 emissions with a 67.9 smoothness 28.5 noise and a 33.7 responsiveness this engine has been improved multiple then the first engine and weighting 605 pounds its heavier and with a 3778.45 price tag its expensive to but its 52370.1 mbtbf makes it last as long at the one above so go buy this if you want a sportier engine but perpare for your pockets to be lightened 5.6L XP 40V DOHC TurboRev0.lua (45.8 KB) 2.7L 20V DOHC TurboRev0.lua (50 KB)
I think you need to make some tweaks… you are putting efficiency over much more important factors, like power and weight, to make those engines waaay more balanced you first need to bring the limiter around 6k rpm , make the cam profile more aggressive, make the turbo bigger etc, if you do this the engines should gain 200 hp and efficiency would drop to 23-25 probably, but that’s still superb, 30+ is insane, make the bottom end better, to gain a LOT of MTFB at a pretty little cost, also drop the quality down, 3700 dollars is a crazy price and it takes forever to build, hope i helped you

Ill just tell you two things, those engines are prototype like expensive, a very expensive V8 should take a maximum of 90 man hours to make, and fuel consumption is really not all about combustion efficiency.
Take a look at other people engines.
Nice try to replicate a diesel engine though.
i cant make it go past 4 thousand without getting some damage to the piston head or getting knock these engines are designed for civvilain / rich people use

i wasnt trying to these engines are close to normal driving engines while still getting good efficency and mbtbf
So you say rich people who apparently wouldn’t care about the engine’s price would care about fuel economy? And power/liter ratio reminds me of those atrocious late 70’s/80’s american engines, like Iron Duke.
Now, why is your stroke so goddamn high? This is what makes your pistons go “OMFG” at more that 4000 rpm
I have an engine that fits in one of my sedans, it also needed to be powerful and economical. Have a play and see if you can learn a little from my engine.

Listen, it seems like you are going for an actual useful engine. If so, you should not focus on one stat (in this case, efficiency). Maxing out stroke increases the piston speed, which lowers the redline and the mtbf.
An ideal engine has to have a balance of many things in order to be consumer ready, power, weight, economy, cost ect…
If your going for pure efficiency you cannot market that, because the result is a 5L engine weighing many times over what it should for the pathetic amount of power it produces. Also remember, it does not matter how efficient a 5L engine is, its still a huge engine, and thus uses more fuel than say a less efficient 4L engine would.
That’s an important point you’re making, Deskjetser. Efficiency does not equal economy! If that would be the case, ship engines would be installed on cars and sold as “eco”.
The next bigger update will make that clear by giving actual fuel consumption figures. The calculations are working on (digital) paper already.
