I am trying to export a car to Beamng, and it says the exports works, but then the car isnt anywhere in beamng, what can I do to fix this?
When you open up the exporter in Automation, click the “Open Folder” button and see where that leads you; it should go to (your Windows username)\AppData\Local\BeamNG.drive\ (current BeamNG version)\mods folder if BeamNG is configured correctly.
If it does not go there, you will need to go into BeamNG.drive and make sure that the user folder is in an accessible location, ideally at the default location, as Windows does not let Automation write data to Program Files, Windows or to the root folder of any hard drive, among other places.
I am on linux on the steamdeck if that would change anything.
Yep, that does make it a fair bit more difficult. It should work more or less seamlessly though on the Steam Deck.
Did you get the folder location from the exporter on the Automation side at least?
In desktop mode. When it says export finished I click open folder and it opens the white tab. The other tab I have open is the mods folder I use for other beamng mods.
Do you happen to have any fixtures from the “80’s Modular Interior” in your build? I noticed that everything in that fixture set makes the car invisible in Beamng.
To get this working, it should be as simple as moving the .zip file from the folder Automation outputs exported cars, to BeamNG’s mods folder, where the rest of your mods exist.
As for why that isn’t working correctly automatically, we’ll have to look into that.
