Centauri Performance Vehicles

This is the In house performance and tuning arm of Centauri Industries, CPV founded in 1972. Several of our engines have already been showcased in our car design section viewtopic.php?f=35&t=3794 I would like to open this engine exclusive section by introducing a version of our 1984 1600cc Bavarian Rallye Challenge engine. This 221 Horsepower engine is being made available to other teams as long as credit is given. More CPV engines will be forthcoming, we will also be open to build requests and tuning jobs for other companies.

Lol 16 bit automation looks much retro.

Great engine, maybe you could retune to get a flatter power band at the top.

I agree with USDMFTW, you could get a better power band than that (please don’t be offended :frowning: ).

If you need some tips:

  1. Cam profiles of 40-55 generate nice torque curves, at the cost of a bit of power.
  2. Timing of 54-62 helps keep your torque curve nice and rounded, instead of squirming a bit with 100.
  3. Invest in the fuel section or the top end section. It will cost man hours, but it gives you more wiggle room for power.
  4. Race headers?

I’ll see about toying with the engine and see what I can do. Let me know if any of my tips were already thought of or avoided for some reason. I’ll edit this with the engine file later.

I totally understand your point. This engine is attached to a very close ratio gear box in my car though so I did sacrifice drivability for power. It doesn’t drop below 6k rpm :sunglasses: and can clear the airfield test track in 87.94 in my '84 rally car. When I release the road version I will definitely make it more balanced. To answer the rest of your tips sam, numbers 1-2 are covered by the narrow gearing range, though I will be following something close to those numbers for the road version. Number 3, I do have four quality each in heads and fuel. As for race headers I just couldn’t balance the costs and hours as well as I could with long tubes.

I like it. my Rally motor is putting out about 214hp and is similiar to yours in powerband. I appreciate what other have said here but i think Peaky engines work better in Automation because the Simulator is near perfect with its gear changing therefore you only need a beefy 2000-3000 rpm band and the ai will do the hard work. There are a few spots ive noted in test where the ai trys to pull the car out of a corner from a high gear and it starts to bog but the 20-30 hp advantage of a massive cam ive found still works.

Thats what I’ve seen too, with a nice close ratio gear box this car can exit the “Hammerhead” turn of the top gear track right at the start of the powerband in 3rd gear.
