Honestly, getting somewhere in the top 10 out 42, despite losing a car early on is a a great position for both me and @bdub1
Next time hit me up, I’d colaborate with you
Yeah especially considering its a race restomod of a dingus from 1960 lmao
This is the first competition I’ve ever entered. I’ll be happy if I don’t get last.
RACE - PART 3
We’re approaching the end of the race. This post will cover laps 99-147 (for the leaders).
All cars had made their third pit stops by now, and the damaged cars got repaired. Then, on lap 87, the #44 Pospichal had to make an emergency stop, that ended up being more serious than expected, with the team having to retire the car.
Cars repaired on the third round of pit stops:
#60 Hokudo
#70 Hokudo
Twenty laps later, it’s teammate the #95 Pospichal would suffer a similar issue and the car had to be retired too. The #9 CannutRus also had to make an emergency stop on lap 102, but fortunately, the car was fixed and was able to continue racing. Just before the next round of pit stops, both the #34 Yinzer and the #89 Clari had to take a drive-through penalty.
The whole field refueled and took new tyres on laps 112-116 (except for the TCX car on lap 108) without any problems. A few more drive-through penalties were issued on the following laps for the #60 Hokudo, #86 Mara and #99 Montesano.
On lap 118, the #17 McDoug that had been on the edge for the whole race finally crashed. Luckily it was able to keep going, although with some serious damage and losing 0.8s per lap. The #3 Tioro then crashed again on lap 121 and the damage made it lose 0.8s per lap.
Not much happened on the following 17 laps, with just an emergency stop for the #25 FAE on lap 127 and a drive-through penalty on lap 129 for the #10 Hoffsman.
As the top half of the GTC field reached lap 140, most of them took their fifth stops, with the #3 Tioro and the #29 Vistella losing aditional time for repairs (mechanical on the case of the #29). The Claris stayed on track for a few more laps since they have better fuel economy than the other GTCs.
We’re now on the last laps of the race. Although the gaps between cars are growing and the positions have stabilized, there’s still 49 laps to go, and penalties or accidents can still happen to any car.
Race control: Drive-through penalty for abusing track limits: (Laps 108-141)
Lap 108: #34 Yinzer
Lap 110: #89 Clari
Lap 117: #60 Hokudo & #99 Montesano
Lap 118: #86 Mara
Lap 129: #10 Hoffsman

RACE - FINAL
The whole field took their fifth stop. All of the GTCs still needed an extra pit stop to make it to the end; but for the bottom half of the TCD field, this would be their last scheduled stop. The #17 McDoug took this chance to repair the damage.
Cars repaired on the fifth round of pit stops:
#3 Tioro
#17 McDoug
Right after it’s stop, the #67 Mars had to take an emergency stop to fix some mechanical issues. The #64 Goatherd followed it into the pits to take a drive-through penalty.
On lap 148, the driver of the #92 Solothurn lost control of the car and crashed into the barriers. The car managed to keep going with heavy damage, losing 1s per lap, but since the car didn’t need to stop again for fuel, it stayed out until the end of the race.
Not so lucky we’re the #66 Mars and the #71 SMC, with both of them having engine failures just six laps apart from each other, with the former on lap 149 and the latter on lap 154.
More mechanical issues came on the following laps, with the #94 Zephorus that had been locked in battle with the #5 Tioro for the whole race having to make an emergency stop on lap 167. A similar issue happened a few laps later to the #39 Crowley.
The time came for the GTCs and some of the TCDs to make their sixth stop. First of them would be the #79 Atun on lap 162. This meant that the E100 car had managed to overcome its disadvantage and it wouldn’t need an extra stop. The rest of the field made their final stops on laps 168-174.
The #67 Mars had to take another emergency stop on lap 169, with the team refusing to give up on their last remaining car. On the next lap, a mistake from the #91 Clari crashed and had to retire, although with so few laps left, the car did not drop to the bottom of the standings.
Two more mechanical issues happened on the last laps of the race. First to the unlucky #29 Vistella (third one in the race) and then to the #60 Hokudo with just two laps to go.
The Planars and the TCD Yinzers barely made it to the end, the four cars running out of fuel just a few meters after the finish lane. In fact, the #33 Yinzer had to slow down for 22s to avoid starting another lap before the overall leader crossed the line.
On lap 196 after 6 hours and 32 minutes, the #35 Tristella-Zacspeed crossed the line in first place, completing the 1000 kilometers. It’s teammates completed the podium, with #52 coming in second, and #1 coming in third.
Almost 15 seconds later, the #22 Homada crossed the line in first place for the TCD class, completing 180 laps (918km). It’s teammate #23 came in second, and the #68 RyuSport was third.
Race control: Drive-through penalty for abusing track limits: (Laps 142-196)
Lap 142: #64 Goatherd

Congratulations to @Xepy & @chiefzach2018 for winning GTC, and @iivansmith & @chiefzach2018 (again) for winning TCD.
Thank you for taking part in this challenge, this was by far my biggest one yet and I really enjoyed it. It was a lot of work, but I’m satisfied with the result and you can expect more like this in the future. There will be a post in the next days with some stats.
NEXT: Post-race
Well at least I wasn’t plum last, I had a lot of fun but dear lord, do not let me near the oven again
woohoo mad it up to 64th!
I’m happy with my TCD car (14th TCD 52nd overall). I did not realize how outclassed my GTC cars were though (31st and 32nd GTC 34th and 35th overall). overall a great challenge and I hope there are more like it to come.
truly amazing
My #46 Driver just reported that he had to hold in a massive brick the whole race. I wonder if he would’ve passed #4 if he had cough cough unloaded before the race… Damn it’s close. I’m still totally happy with 11th and 13th place, since both cars started on worse positions.
Congrats to @Xepy & @chiefzach2018 for that absolute domination in GTC Class!
Huge thanks to @Danicoptero for hosting such a great challenge! I hope there’s more in store!
Wooo, my ethanol car was right in the middle of the TCD pack, right where I wanted it to be!
Nice to see being in top 5 with a resto-modded vehicle, luckily the RNG didn’t blow up #75 like with #88
Nice, i will take 8th considering the other car had 3 mechanicals xD
Not last place let’s goooooooooooooooooooooooo! (ggs to all)
