I would like to know if I buy the game will I be able to install it on more than on computer if I only log on and play my own game every time. I like to switch laptops a lot since technology changes so much but since it’s a digital download I want make sure I can just install it on my new laptop each time. Also, where is the save game located? I know we must be online to play, but will it be in a folder on my hard drive like other games? I prefer to make my own backups and be able to copy my files to every new laptop I try out.

Indeed you can install it on as many computers as you like, if you are logged on from only one machine at a time.
Also we are working on implementing an offline mode… but no details on that are available yet.
Your save games you find in the Automation folder in “My Documents” I think. Play a scenario and achieve at least bronze rank.
Then see where that file saved just to be sure

Just so I understand, the versions online now for $25 and $35 are playable games up to whatever you have developed so far, and will continue to get updated until the final game comes out? At that time we will be upgraded to the release version for no charge? So in essence we are buying the game now just having features added correct? Sorry for confusion but I have never purchased a game this way. I loved the engine demo though!
Yes, you will get the full game free of charge once it is released if you preorder now. Along the way to release we update the “demos” with content for those who preordered. For example: in about 3 weeks you will get access to V8 engines and 8 new scenarios (V8-based) only if you have preordered. Turbos and Inline-6 engines will follow, also only for those who have preordered.
So basically, you get fed with new Automation stuff before release if you have preordered
