CMV 5M: Out NOW!

gotta say the design language is simple, but effective

The Brand new 5th-generation M-Series (Codename 5M) is out now! We’ll be doing a play-by-play comparison of each model from the last generation and new generation, but just to clarify right now: all models are available with a clutch pedal!

Visual changes for all models include a slight rear diffuser, slightly redone tail lights, brand-new headlights, bigger kidney-bean grilles now with chrome trim, chrome mirrors, stock 20-in. wheels, a side-located CMV badge, new doorhandles, and wider tires.

For mechanical changes, all models now come with either a 7-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, electronic rear differential, and power bumps on all models.

Despite the rumors, we’ve decided to hold off on adding a 3-pot to the M-Series. Why? Because we love the sound of mini-V10’s! This new M25 features a retuned version of the 2.5L I5 found in nearly all of our models, including the last-generation M-Series. But, thanks to a bigger intercooler and higher compression ratios, this revamp allows for 335 HP (+16) higher in the rev range and 253 lb-ft (unchanged) much earlier in the rev range, giving the new engine low-end torque when you need it and a satisfying 8400 RPM when you want it. Manual equipped cars will do 0-60 in 5.7 seconds while getting 35.8 MPG and DCT cars will do 0-60 in 5.5 sec. while sacrificing 0.2 MPG. (Not that you’ll miss it.)

M30:

The revamp of the 3.0L I6 found in the last-generation M30 allows for 431 HP (+30) and 354 lb-ft (-11). However, you’re not going to miss that 11 torque at the peak when you have 340 of those available from 3800 RPM all the way to 6600 whereas in the 4M you have 30 less torque at the same 3800 RPM and likewise at 6600. In addition, you have 420 of those HP available from 6300 RPM all the way to a screaming 8000 RPM redline. Equiped with a manual, this car has a quick 4.9 sec. 0-60 and with a DCT a 4.8 sprint, with 32.8 MPG in the manual and 32.6 MPG in the DCT.

M40: Though the M25 and M30 are very fast cars, this is where we get into the big leagues. Powered by the same 4.0L V8 from the last M40 now with a revamp, the engine makes an absurd 575 HP at it’s even-more absurd 8500 RPM redline. It also has the grunt of a V8, with 469 lb-ft being available at 5200 RPM. Visually, this car also has wider dual exhausts out back to allow more exhaust-flow from this powerhouse, and shiny 21 in. wheels. But the best part? Equipped with a manual, this M40 will do a 4.8 sec. 0-60 sprint and still manage 23.8 MPH, along with the DCT making the sprint in 4.7 with a 0.7 MPG sacrifice. Now you may be thinking, “wow, there’s not much of a change between the M30 and the M40.” Well, that thought goes away when you realize this car is capable of 197 MPH as well, a feat the M30 couldn’t dream of.

When the 4M M45 R debuted in 2012, the 4.5L TT V10 with a shell-shock for enthusiasts who were expecting the era of downsizing to strike CMV. But no one missed half a liter, but they did miss a big change in the outside design. Well, now it’s time for design to take over and engine tuning to add a bit of finesse. Though we may have dropped 200 RPM, we added a massive 62 HP (787 total) and an also massive 45 lb-ft (566 total.) Manual-only RWD models do 0-60 in 4.1 sec. (no thanks to massive wheelspin :b). As for AWD, the manual will do the 0-60 sprint in an impressive 3.5 sec. and the DCT in a staggering 3.1 sec. despite it’s goliath 4900 lb. weight.

How do you take the most bonkers, out of this world rocket strapped onto a sedan, and make it faster? You turn the dial from 11 to 12. Equipped with the same 4.5L V10, this engine now makes 913 HP (+58) and 666 lb-ft (+40), making this the absolute most powerful CMV to hit the streets. This power hits the pavement through ridiculous 355mm rear tires and will make the 0-60 sprint in 3.9 sec. The DCT version will do the same speed in 3.8. You may wonder, “well why would it be slower?” though if you were in the know, you would know that not even the most advanced DSC system (trust us, it’s there) can handle putting 900 HP through 2 tires with only 4200 lbs. over the whole car! Anyone who can drive this beast truly is a dragon slayer…

enough torque to summon kreatvres ov hell

Volvo too. Only Volvo will sell you a 750hp straight six with RWD and a manual from factory.
