will we be able to change the color of the valve covers, spark plugs, engine , and the like ?
I think that might be a little excessive. Beside when you’re building your engine you’ll never see the valves/spark plugs/etc besides not many companies paint their engines. Just my guess though.
mopar and gm performance had many of their engines in blue and chevy had many of their’s in orange… and when you build an engine you CAN see the spark plug WIRES and valve covers… when diesel engines come out why not be able to paint them yellow (CAT),red (cummins) black/grey (detroit diesel)
… when i say valve covers i mean different colors or chrome …and lets not forget chrome intake and exhaust manifolds
Agree with Serothis, sounds like adding code for a feature with no actual purpose. Don’t see how being able to change those colors would add anything to the game.
The only way I can imagine this being implemented is as company identity color, which you could choose at the start of the game and which hence is added to all components designated to bear “a color”. I don’t see how this would get any priority though, it’s just not important… could be a “nice little feature” that adds a bit of flavor in an expansion pack.
i was thinking hey maybe this would add to the customization aspect to the game
Well if you beg, plead and start doing zeussy’s laundry then it might .ake it at launch
Its easy enough to do, I just need to make more textures for everything and we swap them out, so yeah it could be done, and in future it probably will be.
Its not a key feature, but if it gets to the point of adding cool little extras, it wouldn’t be that hard to do.
So what it boils down to: Not now, but easy enough to do if we decide to.
Got a suggestion in that regard! When it comes to the various textures for parts, cars and the like, would it be possible to make them conveniantly replaced/modded? For example just an ordinary PNG file in a subfolder somewhere. That way, if you wanted to you could just replace them with textures you’ve edited or made yourself. The possibilities could be endless, from changing the color of the engine block to draping your entire car in patters remicent to what real life manufacturers do on their test mules.
They’ll probably remain in the database files that they’re currently living in, as that’s the easiest way to manage them. But once we put out some mod tools you’ll be able to do what you like to them.
Car paint is different matter, the UV unwraps aren’t designed for patterns, and the paint is defined by a colour that’s specified to the shader, not by a texture
