Computer specs

Exactly. I didn’t need them for extra power though. Initially the idea was to run a RAID1 array the disks powered by separate PSUs for extra safety (I mean what’s the point of RAID1 if you likely lose both of them when the PSU goes up in flames). Then the setup grew big around these PSUs - the best CPU supported by this mobo, two graphic cards, a liquid cooling setup with a quite powerful pump. I thought the blessing of 1000W in total shouldn’t waste like that being unused .

If you follow on IRC you already know my specs.

CPU: Athlon II x2 255 (SLOW)
GPU: Radeon R7 360 2 GB
RAM: 6 GB DDR3-1333
SSD: 120 GB Kingston HyperX
HDD: 500 GB WD Caviar Blue
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

at least you still have a relatively good gpu, 6gb of ram, and an SSD

CPU: i7 3770k @ 4.0 GHz
Cooler: Noctua U12P w/o fans (they look awful and the case fan on the back makes enough airflow to have ~70°C cpu under normal load / gaming)
MoBo: Asrock Z77 Extreme4
RAM: 16GB DDR3-1400 (4x 4GB Kingston ValueRAM 1333 OC to 1400mhz)
GPU: Inno3D GTX770 iChill Herculez x3 Ultra 2GB (running on factory-OC 1241 mhz)

Storage:
Crucial MX200 256GB SSD (for OS)
2x Crucial MX100 512GB SSD in raid 0 (for Games)
Samsung HD154UI 1.5TB HDD (Storage)
as well as some external hdd’s for backups and stuff, ~6TB in total

Case: Sharkoon T9 Value White
PSU: LC-Power LC6550 V2.2 550W (I know they are bad, but was in the pc when I bought it pre-built 5 years ago and as long as I don’t draw more than 400W from it, it should be fine)

Insulating tape sleeved wires in blue=data, white=power (wanted to sleeve it at first, but was kinda ok with the look of the tape (and I’m lazy!)) as well as an led strip in aqua-blue

Got it 5 years ago (when I was 14 and didn’t have the knowledge to build a custom pc) and since then I now and then upgrade a part - only the case, psu, ram, samsung hdd and dvd-writer is original atm.

Also, I’m currently saving for a new system (to finally make good use of the 4k screen i got around for almost 2 years), making this one a test subject for some crazy mods the last year of it being my main gaming pc.

(the color of the blue lighting i couldn’t get spot on though - it’s actually less purple-ish and more green-ish)

My main - and old - rig (I’ve not updated in a looong time), it covers my needs atm.

Corsair Carbide 300R + Silverstone CFP51
AMD FX-8350 CPU
Corsair A-70 heatsink + 2x Scythe GentleTyphoon
Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 + G.Skill F3-1866C9Q-16GAB
EVGA GeForce GTX770 ACX 4GB GPU
SSDs: OCZ Vertex2 120GB - Agility3 240GB - Vertex460 240GB - Trion 480GB
HDDs: WD Velociraptor 150GB - Maxtor STM3500320AS
Corsair HX-850 PSU
Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music SC
Hewlett Packard ZR24w screen
…and ‘some’ peripherals.

exceeeeeeept… why H series motherboard with a K unlocked processor?

I’m running Automation on my AMD SNAKE system. (yes that’s what I named it)

Still an AMD FX-8350 @ ~4500mhz most of the time
16gb DDR3-1866
3x 256gb Crucial M4 SSDs
and a Titan X

3 SSSDs though? and a titan… that’s more than something.

I got the Titan X when they launched, to replace the GTX-680 4GB I had which simply wasn’t enough for my 4K display.

I’m running a freaking ultrabook :joy:
Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 14
Intel i5-4210U (yes, it’s the ultrabook version)
1TB HDD
Nvidia GeForce 840M (again, the ultrabook graphics card)
8GB RAM

still use max settings…
with Chrome open in the background mine only gets up to around 65 degrees

I STILL use this as my main PC:
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 255
GPU: Radeon R7 360
RAM: 6 GB
HDD: 500 GB WD Caviar Blue
SSD: 120 GB Kingston HyperX 3K
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x64

My rig:

i5 4690k.
Asus Maximus VII Ranger Z97.
Zalman z11 Plus.
Corsair RM750 Plus Gold Modular
HDD: WD Caviar Green 1TB Sata2.
Deepcool Gammaxx 300.
Kingston HyperX 1866MHz 8GB x1.
Sapphire HD 7870 Ghz ed. Flex.

And, coming soon… new screen, a GTX 1060, and a new HDD… and pictures.

My wonderful black and old steel box of power:

  • Athlon II X3 440 (hopefully to be changed soon) - three cores of overheating!
  • Gigabyte 770T-D3L
  • Gigabyte Radeon R9 380 with 4GB of VRAM (and blue LEDs!)
  • 2x 4GB RAM Crucial Ballistix Sport (1666MHz?)
  • Thermaltake Modular SE 530W
  • GoodRam Iridium Pro SSD 240GB
  • Mediocre Logic B21 case
  • some old and slow 500GB HDD
  • some DVD station

And even older BenQ 20" 1680x1050 monitor, and pretty standard Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard, and pretty standard Logitech speakers.

Better photo of the interior is too big (I have no idea how - on PC it has 1.2MB, forum shows it exceeds 3) and I don’t have time now to solve this somehow :stuck_out_tongue:

Here is a small glimpse of the Mars Engineering Labs.

Desktop Setup:

40 inch 4k Display for the Gaming PC running Windows 10
28 inch 4k Display for the Mainframe running Debian
small RGB LED lighting for the back of the 40 inch

playing Shadow Warrior 2 in 21:9 (3840x1600) while having Automation IRC and Forums open on the Debian Mainframe.

Here’s my Gaming PC:

The small box with the 3 Fans is just the selfmade external CPU Watercooler. Housing the pump, reservoir, fan controller and a triple radiator. So just 2 tubes and some wires are actually connected to the gaming pc.

Here’s the interior:

You can probably tell, that i don’t give a damn about the interior looks …

Specs:

  • i7 6700k@4600MHz
  • 32gb DDR4@3600
  • Asrock Z170 Extreme 4
  • 980Ti @ 1470MHz GPU → watercooled
  • 256GB M2 SSD for OS
  • 1TB Sata SSD for Games

Here’s my Audio Setup:

Connected GamePC and the Mainframe to the AVR, since i only play games and listen to Music on my GamingPC, but do all other stuff at my Debian Machine. So i can easily switch the 5.1 Setup from one PC to the other.
Using 4 JBL Control one, a JBL Center Speaker and a Magnat Studio Subwoofer.

And on the right of the subwoofer, there is a small Uninterruptible Power Source for the Debian Server.
Having lots of Diskspace, i really like it, when it’s able to shutdown normally before the power goes actually out.

The “server”

Has 7 HDDs, and 3 SSDs in there, for a total of 18 TB usable space.
(6x 4TB in Raid6 for the most of the data)

Specs:

  • Supermicro X8DT3 Board
  • 2x Xeon X5670 for a total of 24 Threads
  • 96GB ECC Memory
  • GTX 770

I use this machine for the most of the time, sometimes i even play on it.
E.g. Kerbal Space Program is running awesome with Steam and Debian. Even in 4k it’s quite playable. (20+ fps)

may i ask… what kind of computing work do you use those rigs for?

Nothing really.
Gaming on the GamePC. Little bit of Lightroom for my pictures.

On the “Server” (aka Mainpc) Browsing, Emailing, little bit of 3D modeling for the 3d printer. Got some VMs running in kvm and use it as a fileserver.

I just hate to wait on stuff.
Like i had to convert 50.000 jpegs from a gopro, and just used all 24 threads for that. So i was finished in 2hours instead of a whole day.

#Meet Godzilla

.

A costly little side project of mine  Some of the IRC people already know about this.

That’s a first test run after I assembled it today; it still has no proper GPU’s, storage or cooling. Is meant to be kind of a can-do-everything-system when it’s finished.

Oh well… You could load nearly the entire content of my hard drive into this RAM :astonished:
