CSC56 - What a B-Ute (Results out!)

I assume because this says “Unleaded Regular” that you meant 91 RON, and not 91 AKI which would be closer to a Premium Unleaded.

yeah, 91Ron

Also, the entries are now open!

For the consideration of Helron, the revival of the Yokie nameplate with the Yokie RS.

Featuring a 5.9L V8 making 350 hp at the rear wheels through a 6 speed manual, and a special, non-removable hard tonneau cover with functional rear wing, this top spec model is ready to provide the buzz and draw that a Halo Ute has to offer.

What is the deadline hour, It is 13-04-2023T00:00:00 UTC?

so long as it still says 12th of April in at least one country, submissions are open. For UTC, submissions would close at 13-04-2023T11:00:00

and without further ado, the entries are closed!
Expect the reviews to come out some point in the week. I have a no bins policy, unless you really fucked up which I doubt. All the cars look good, thank you for competing!

all five vehicles are a accounted for, judging is now in progress!

Disclaimer: I absolutely loved all of these for real, they all look so good and well made, keep in mind that there are not losers here. None of your designs are bad, its just some are a bit better
without further ado, lets get into it

5th Place: Helron Yokie HHP by @Rise_Comics

getting punished a bit here because of how truly mad it is. My personal favourite of them all, however it doesnt fit the brand really. Helron have not touched a track since the 70s (granted you didnt know that, so it didnt effect your score). As much as I love this piss coloured track monster, its hard to imagine it garnering much of an audience
TL;DR: way too much of a wild card

4th Place: Helron Yorkie RS by @xsneakyxsimx

if I had to sum this car up in two words, it would be “that’ll do”. Its a great, solid build that takes obvious inspiration from the previous gen Yokie, however, it fails to stand out too much. Though, I will admit, bit of a wierd choice making the paint from the Leopardchauns robes
TL;DR: Its solid, but thats it

3rd Place: Helron Yokie ZRD by @Riley

in terms of personal preference this car is my least favourite, everything is way too swoopy for my personal taste. In terms of the quality though, the car has clear actual effort put in and apart from looking like a pissed off rabbit, the details and ingenuity are quite nice. Overall though, it doesnt sit right with me
TL;DR: Too goofy looking to take seriously

2nd Place: Helron Yokie HRT

whilst the name technically doesnt make sense, since Helron dont have a racing team, you didnt know that so I cant penalise you for it. I will say though that the car looks way too small. For some reason, the car looks really short. Thats it, thats my only real complaint
TL;DR: Amazing car, but just not amazing enough

and for the big winner winner chicken dinner: @abg7’s Helron Yokie SP Ute

this car is pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Its not too much, it doesnt scream its presence, but it still makes itself known. Its lines are simple, yet effective. Its not trying too hard, but its still trying well enough. My only Complaint is that the taillights dont have any way to really open, but that could be fixed with the addition of a simple cutout fixture.

Congratulations to everyone, and well done to you all! Thank you for making this such a great learning experience
However
Jesus fucking christ
This was only 5 cars and I still struggled with it. I can say full well that if I ever win anything like CSR or QFC I am definitely not gonna be hosting. Thank you though, I think I just needed to experience hosting to know that it aint my thing. Still, I hope I did decently

The colour isn’t that far off from a real world offering from around that time:

That is seared into my mind as what a mid to late 2000s ute should look like.

Also congrats to @abg7 for the win!

yeah my problem with it was it looked very velvety, whereas that is smooth and shiny

Yeah, I have trouble with the colour system sometimes.

Thank you for hosting this CSC! I didn’t expect to win this one, but I did, much to my surprise and relief.

Looking back, those words succinctly explain why my entry came out on top - it’s a simple design that just happens to work very well.

I suspect you used an exterior color with too little shine - the greater the shine, the glossier and less velvety (or satin-like) it will appear to be.

And I feel like I can host the next CSC - just give me some time to come up with its premise and rule set.

I look forward to it!

You win some, you lose some, I guess. In any case, glad you like how utterly nuts the HHP was. Had I known what you were going for, I would’ve gone for the ‘Craigslist Corolla’ kind of aggressively normal lol.

the best way to know what to do for CSC is to look at IRL designs. Look at what sells well, and try to fit into that demographic
