More updates
If those on Discord want to ask more about the rules, tag kwaliteitpotato (me) because ultimately, I am the one calling the shots.
Priorities
- Reduced emphasis on value by moving it down to
Rules
- Removed interior entertainment penalties except for standard cassette (to illustrate a step up from basic cassette), which is $200
- Increased the penalty for each interior quality option by $100
- Added naming scheme
- Updated calculator
Misc
Some literature for those interested:
Some final rule changes (which were supposed to be announced yesterday):
- ATS usage: wheelbase offset can be used as long as the difference between the front and rear offsets are not more than 10. The calculator will be updated to reflect this.
- No RVs. This includes normal-shaped vans with an RV interior.
While RVs would honestly have been a great addition to a challenge like this, it was clearly not what I had in mind when the challenge was conceived. While there are also ways to simulate RV engineering in Automation (using more seats, weight sliders, etc.), RVs are ultimately a little too different from the regular old van/ute/estate and cannot be compared apples-to-apples. I have seen some great RVs on the works, so this was a bit of a tough decision to make. Maybe next time.
Round will actually open (for real) tonight at 23.59 UTC+11. Remember to send your submission both vero and myself. If you have submitted before this post, you are welcome to resubmit.
Smh fine

The 1986 Auto-Roamer Mountaineer
The Mountaineer is a cheap, reliable wagon to get you and and everything you need where you need to go. The Engine is practically bullet proof, the main block is made out of aluminium, with everything else being good ol’ iron. It’s an 1.7L Inline 4 cylinder engine producing 72 horsepower and 128nm of torque and revs to a maximum of 5000rpm. This engine can push the Mountaineer to a top speed of 151kph, not that you’ll ever reach it as it takes almost a minute to get there. A Standard model comes with 5 seats, BUT with the travelers package shown here, the 3 seater bench can be replaced with a 1.5 seater bench and A BED, TOWING GEAR, ROOF RACKS AND A BIGGER GAS TANK. The Mountaineer is built on a heavy duty corrosion resistant steel ladder frame chassis for the toughest of roads and rough weather. It does weigh almost 1700 kilograms, but even then the Mountaineer still only drinks 8.7 litres of petrol every 100 kilometers on average
And after all is said and done, a Mountaineer will only set you back $14,300

can cars be modified from their stock variant? as in roof racks, a second fuel tank, anything thatd be aftermarket
I’d prefer a “stock” submission if possible, but a few modifications would be alright if it’s something like a factory/dealer option. Something with too much aftermarket stuff would kinda go against the spirit of the competition
