CTC - Car Tycoon Challenge #1 [RESULTS]

I really eager to look at all the entries stats!

Awesome trump cards, Bayer, great way to check out the competition :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the top trumps cards. I wasn’t expecting them, so they make for a nice surprise

After a quick scan of the entries its a good job that I didn’t enter my cheap off road transport car because it seems as though everyone and their mother has gone for the cheap end of the market. Unfortunately, looking at the competition has told me that my sports car would have done much better… the sports car I didn’t enter because I expected the market to be saturated.

My main competitor will probably be mer_at, since we both have cars aimed at a similar market priced identically. Hopefully my extra comfort will trump your prestige and sportiness advantage.

I’m quite surpriced also. I thought most would try the upper markets or at least the hot hatches. My car is good and priced quite well. Althogh I might go bankrupt since I tried to rule the lower end markets with billions of cars (equals to big and expensive factory). Now I think that my car isn’t good enough or cheap enough. Thankfully we’ll see soon!

Grats to the winners and thanks to everyone for participating! I hope you had fun! Please post your thoughts and ideas. Next challenge will start next week!

Guess I have no competition. Looks like no-one else went for the high-end luxury market. Me and nexxus are tied for the most expensive cars.
If I knew I would have gotten a bigger factory. But that would ruin the exclusivity. Hope I sell them all.

I was surprised to have not many supercars or real driving machines in the competition. I guessed everyone would go for that, but it seems like everyone thought this way.

Best in Large $$
Second in Mid $$
Fourth in GT

yet Third in Offroad $$

Now that’s what i call an allround-car

Heeeyyyyy! Did make few pennies with my car and didn’t die to starvation.

Doing a quick lookup of the cars on the markets I could easily buy the results. In my opinion they seem to be correct. Nice and intresting to see how the markets reacted on this many cars.

And congratulations for the winners!

Thank you for this challenge, it was really entertaining.
About my entry: didn’t even expect to find me somewhere in the midfield. However would have done better with a much higher price tag.

Daamn I was so close to #1 profit, I went a bit overboard with factory since I expected more specialized cars for high end luxury and track leaving more room in middle of the market. In any case I’ll post my car file later if anyone is interested, and congratulations to xwing! Incredible stats on that car.

-1st in hot hatch
-1st in mid sport
-1st in trackday
-1st in supercar

I think I attained my goal despite only being 5th in profit
Surprisingly not much competition in sports segment though, I guess I’m the only one that went through with it.

Lol I sold every one I could make, and here I thought I priced it too high… looks like I made the Rolls Royce/Bentley of this round and priced it as if it was Mercedes

Looking forward for the next round.

You won that class because I sold all production.

At least I won the best profit per car.

YAY! Profits! I didn’t go bankrupt, so, there’s that thing. But, I apparently priced myself out of the market…

I definitely didn’t see my car in the Supercar category at all! (I’m guessing the pricing put it there) And I failed in the GT market which is where I was aiming. Just couldn’t get enough comfort and sportiness at the same time. :frowning:

Thanks for the competition, Der Bayer! It was fun!

Oh yeah, if you’re going to run this competition again may I suggest moving date a bit? Just to make things more exciting and fresh.

Yep, I had a car aimed at the trackday/cheap sports/supercar market which had more sportiness than any of the other competitors and could have been happily sold at ~50k. I didn’t enter it because I thought the market would be saturated.

However, my logic for going for the mid-large $$ market turned out to be sound because, while I didn’t get anything close to the marketshare I was expecting, I still made a handsome profit because the market was just so damned big.

Thanks for making and running this competition, I look forward to the next one. Any hints as to what it might be?

aaaghh bust :frowning:
For Sale - Valuable Real Estate in the North of England, Former Auto Works with planning permission for 27,000 houses.

although I am surprised my offering got 1.18 market share of the supercar segment. Its a 5 door hatch :S

I think that on the next competition instead of limiting entries. Bayer should limit the initial investment. That way players aiming for big markets can only make on car, player going for specific markets can make 2 or 3 cars.

Actually I am a bit sad that I lost the category that I was in because that was so few competition. Sounds strange but having more participants would have dispersed the clients among them instead of both entries in class selling out.

Point is, having players enter more than one entry when going for low production numbers allows for all classes to have competition.

To al those saying everyone when for mid market. I EVEN COMPLAINED ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF STATIONWAGONS. Not because it’s op. But because everyone was going for mid. I had myself an SW body to enter in the offroad and family cat.
I had 5 models: OFF/FM, TP, C§/C$$, GT/Track/SC, L$$$/GT. After seeing people post their submissions I notice no1 had posted something in the L$$$ so I picked that

Great work, Bayer. Thank you for your commitment and time dispensed in this.
