CTC - Car Tycoon Challenge #5 - 2014 [RESULTS]

Participants Overview: Top Trump Cards

The submission deadline is over and here is the overview over the 61 participants: Google Folder

The results will be presented tomorrow!

Iā€™m going to flop so much in this one. The Van body has too much Off road capabilitiesā€¦

I smell overproduction city hereā€¦

And PMP, your van will take my Crossover rehash down with it, methinks.

Ehh, Der Bayer, could you mention in the next CTC that modded bodies are allowed please? :stuck_out_tongue: I did not expect the not-vivario to be allowed.

Looks good though, cheers for holding this challenge again. Time to anticipate results.

uhmā€¦ from the original postā€¦

Ah shoot, I thought I priced my Chioni at $16,250, not $19,250. Whoops! Hopefully it will still sell well thanks to it having the best fuel economy in this CTC.

The Anemos Minus doesnā€™t look great either, but hopefully it can nab some of the sales. 100+ utility may have ruined its chances of getting some transport sales

I think that i will have some serious problems to sell all my productionā€¦

Itā€™s not the body itself. You can do that with almost any body (which allows for big wheels).

Yeah, good point. I already added mod-compatibility into the features list in order to not forget it next time.

Yep, Iā€™m screwed again due to overproduction. hahaha Next time Iā€™m gonna make 100 only!

Under production screwed me over last time. so iā€™m not making too few cars

Ok, just realized how much i screwed up the Shuhaā€™s suspensionā€¦ and how overpriced the RE isā€¦ Oh great Fuel Economy, please save this preproduction mess

I actually asked Der Bayer about that through a pm because the only cars which can get the big tyres needed for off road ability fall short in the utility department in a big way. He said that it was OK though so thereā€™s no way I was passing up on that advantage. Absurdistā€™s off road entry is a good example of this. However, I believe that the van costs more because of its huge amount of bodywork, so it may even out again. The only reason my van costs so little is because I need to sell a LOT of them to make a profit, and because it uses a far cheaper engine

Hopefully when a proper off road body or two make their way into the game it should even things up a bit

Thatā€™s only a part of it. But Iā€™m almost sure no other body gives you 100 off road as easy.

I think modded bodies shouldnā€™t be allowed. Since they havenā€™t been balanced.

How do you want do ā€œbalanceā€ a body? You can only restrict it to get a very crappy one.
Stuff like that helps us to balance out the car statsā€¦ Just donā€™t cry when a modded SUV bodies comes by and reaches >100 Offroad or when someone uses an ingame body that is INCLUDED in the gameā€¦ like the one from absurdist.

Offroad is an easy stat - small small rims with huge tyres, giantic ride height, non rusting materials, solid axle rear, AWD and a good spacing. Nothing more is required.

The only thing which has to be ā€œbalancedā€, i.e. is not calculated by the game itself, is (afaik) the box for cargo and interior space and aero stats. The rest is done by the game. If there are imbalances, the challenge will help show them. So why block content which will be in the game sooner or later in a similar way? Stuff can be fixed earlier if we see problems.

No, I wouldnā€™t cry when the SUV come ingame, because that would make more sense than a cargo van. But I donā€™t think that adding seats should give you more off road and it does.
Plus. I donā€™t think that modded bodies should be allowed because they are not officially part of the game and have alot more effect than modded fixtures which are just for looks.

With the Van being allowed no other body will have a chance at offroad until the SUV or pickup come out. And we are talking about a modded body breaking the games math by being so different from the other bodies. Itā€™s my opinion.

PS: Just noticed I was replying to the guy that made the body and not bayer. I donā€™t know if you can choose base stats or something like that but if you do lower the base offroad one.

Also, to Bayer, I think I already said this but TP shouldnā€™t be based of utility but instead should be based of cargo space. Creating a new stat that would actually help to distinguish better the compacts from familly cars.
And also inline with this, cargo space should have less impact on the utility to stop huge vans from competing with city cars. Since last time I asked killrob told me utility was about car space and seat per footprint.

I understand but for people wanting to get on the challenge with the game as it is itā€™s bad. The challenge is complicated enough without strange factors coming into play.
My view on this challenge would be to have a stable challenge that would somewhat replicate the multiplayer campaign mode until the official one is out.
Right now itā€™s not newbie friendly because people that are more into the gameā€™s mods and other exploits will take advantage. I think exploiting like this should be discourage.
When reaper told you that the van was OP you should have told him to make anyway but for an unofficial simulation so that players that didnā€™t have the mod would have a chance and told him to make another car for the same class to see how it competed for example.

EDIT: Also to add. Last challenge I didnā€™t have time to compete and this one I didnā€™t have enough time to explore all the possibilities. Althougth I like to explore and that I didnā€™t solely for lack of time. There are users that donā€™t like to spend much time making cars to compare. This is showing on the number of competitors. Every time an unbalance happens someone gives up. The number of participants have been decreasing. For me the best one was the 1st because we had the test run to compare and knew what was going to be like.

Please donā€™t double post the next time.

A cargo van can be offroady - what you donā€™t see on the small thumbnails is stuff like ride height, tyre profile etc. Why shouldnā€™t be a AWD van with enough ground clearance and proper tyres be totally crap offroad? Isnā€™t that what a good offroader is about? Proper Tyres, AWD, ground clearance and a good suspension?

The Ferrolet by absurdist has even more offroad - but you seem to ignore it as this is a stock game bodyā€¦ and I think a sport coupe is less suited for offroad than a cargo van.
And then look at conans Mitsuhita Van - uses the van body and is not that off roady  The setup is important.

About transport and cargospace: Changes in the stats will come in the next big update! Also the balance will change a lot - including new stuff to toy around with!

Pretty sure British Gas had a fleet of off road transit van specifically to get to pipes in the middle of fields.
Iā€™m on my phone, but when I get chance iā€™ll find a pic and post

So many sportscars and supercars, yet nobody else did a luxurius car. I have the market all for myself, maybe Iā€™ll even sell all 30 000 Oravan Medved for 400 000 apiece, that would be a record profit probably
My Bazant also has the stats to sell whole 1 000 000 planned production, although nobody in their right mind should buy a car that makes 0-100 in 74 secondsā€¦ that should be some kind of a record as well
