WHILE NOT PUT LINKS … any legal problem.
Ok enough of the pirating talk then
You can get free 3DS from the manufacterers website, its a student offer. It requires no personal information OR school registration. Very simple sign up, clean legal download

Your all welcome
God damnit, are you serious?
Thanks!
he’s right, DL as I type
“My Son has suddenly developed an urge to study 3d modelling”
Thanks V Much NP
EDIT: Unfortunately even though selecting 3dx max 2013 and 32bit version it still forces 64 bit on you so the plugins wont work.
giving 3ds_Max design a go see what it gives there
I’m trying to make a badge (I looked the Prato source badge to have a reference), but when I put these into Automation (in Badges folder), and I select the badge, Automation close with a Windows error (like this: http://i.imgur.com/H4FIB.png ).
Includes the *.3ds files to import in 3DS Max (I make the badge in Sketchup Pro, exported in *.3ds, imported in 3DS MAX, and exported in Kajira format).
The UVMesh is the respective of my badge (the badge had extrusion; the UVMesh no).
To try, put the Montes folder in the badge folder.
I need help.
Thanks.
badgemontes.zip (16.8 KB)
Could you provide me with the original .max files instead.
I can tell you right now that UV mesh needs to be symmetrical, and only one half of it has to be modelled.

These are the files: files.zip (45.5 KB) (The badge is assymetrical, and I don’t know how can I make the UV symetrical).
look, I have the badge template in my 3d mod stuff. download it, see how it should look like.
Making a UV mesh for an assymetrical badge looks like this: you find a part that is symmetrical, and only make that into a UV mesh. for an instance, the dragon and the gryphon badges in vanilla content only have a halfring-shaped UV mesh.

Can anyone help me? Since I am a student, I downloaded the free student offer of Max. (I originally used a pirated version, but want the legal copy) I specified that I wanted the 32-bit version of 3DS Max 2013, but it has installed the 64-bit version, so I can’t use the Kajira exporter. No matter what I try, it always gives me the 64-bit version. Can anyone who got the 32-bit version on student offer help me please?
I had that issue too, I don’t think Autodesk offer 32bit £ds Max anymore. I did however download 3DS Max Design 2013 (available under all products under student licence).
I’ve installed the KJC plugins and so far no errors, but not gone any further than start-up
I had no problem downloading the student version of 3ds Max 2013 32bit but it was a few months ago. Only fired it up today too see if it was actually the right version.
Looks like you can still download it though, so either you do something wrong or someone at Autodesk messed up a link
I have often told people that Autodesk have a great student program but people doesn’t seem to listen. I have used student versions of Autodesks Inventor since 2007 without any problems, I haven’t paid a dime and it’s legal. Just get a few messages that “this part was made with a student version”, I don’t know how that works with 3ds though and there might a be problem using models from a student version in main game, but the same should be said about pirated versions.
Apologies for what I’m about to ask, It’s been a while and I haven’t been active but is there a detailed guide for how to make badges? Is it like making grills?
Not really like the grilles, you should check out Kubby’s thread. I believe he has a template there
Thanks Wizzy
I don’t know if you’ve fixed the problem or not, Pleb, but the 2014 and 2015 versions are only 64-bit. Only versions 2013 and before come in 32-bit.
32-bit 2013 was what I wanted.
Anyway, I got the problem fixed now, seems I just had to do a full browser download instead of using the install manager that it automatically uses, so I have it now.

I ran into the same problem, my University issue laptop has a bunch of restrictions so students can’t download stuff
So… you can get 3ds Max for FREE, LEGALLY?! I’ve never been so happy of being a student, does it require some kind of complex registration or it’s fast? Also, how do you perform the “full browser download” to get the 32bit?
Yay! i can finally make the Not-Focus
