This isn’t a company profile per-say; I’d prefer to say that this thread is where I design cars and offer my thought process as I go through the build process.
I’ll start off first and foremost with my ATCC entry, Filia, as it was developed by Scarlet Devil Race Works in-universe.
Masamune Motors was a car company rising in popularity in part due to a strong emphasis on build quality, reliability, and “bang-for-the-buck” above all other factors. This made them popular among lower-middle class folks who needed a family car for everyone’s needs, as well as desperate college students who relied on the companies’ older models for transportation. But at the same time, this made them rather simple and overly basic. Wanting to captivate their younger fans, and to add “performance” to their current list of things going for them, the company reached out to Riven Scarlet, then head engineer of Scarlet Devil Race Works.
The goals were immediately implied and set by the new project’s name, “Filia” (meaning ‘daughter’ in Latin). This would be the first of a few new models in the Masamune line-up. Filia was the “face” of this new project, and had to set an image change for the company from the get-go. It had to be cute and turbocharged. It needed to do 0-60 reasonably quickly, handle the worst conditions the mainland US and Europe could throw at it, and still be the same cute Filia its owner would love.
Riven didn’t need to deal with most of this. The Group A, SDR-prepared version of Filia is still somewhat cute, but she’s far more athletic in this trim than any of her road-going counterparts are. Filia’s success in the 80’s era of Touring Car racing would later pave the way for good performances in later years, though in the present-day the Filia models are more low-end sports cars than Tourers.
