Designing The Future Pt.1(finished)

Designing The Future

Deadline: Saturday 27th, 8AM GMT

The Premise:
The year is 2016, ABR is still a fledgling company in an ever-evolvong automotive world, and while the CEO is always certain of his decisions and designs, the board is not as steadfast in their beliefs and has ordered a competition to help the company in the right direction. As a company car is also one of the perks of being on the board the boardmembers would like a proper alternative for themselves. The result is this challenge to our fellow automotive brothers and sisters, to help design a new flagship for ABR and help us evolve in the right direction. A sidenote from the CEO mentions the board as rather incosistent and suggest you should prepare for a surprise just in case

Rules:
Since ABR has a tendency of forgetting them when there are more than three rules, this challenge only consist of two rules:
[ul]]Minimum 3 seats/:m]
]Market price below 125.000$ with 10% markup/:m][/ul]
(Breaking the rules, which is quite hard, will not disqualify you from the challenge, but most likely incur some penalties unless breaking them penalizes the submission heavily itself. High quality modpack accepted, beyond that I may need a link to the mod in order to download it if necessary)

Scoring system:
Once again, we will keep it rather simple as the CEO easily gets confused:

Very high importance (2 * value):
[ul]
]Drivability/:m]
]Sportiness/:m]
]Prestige/:m][/ul]
High importance(1,5 * value)
[ul]]Top speed/10/:m]
]120/acceleration/:m][/ul]
Normal importance (1 * value)
[ul]]Comfort/:m]
]Practicality/:m][/ul]

Low importance (0,5 * value)
[ul]]Utility/:m]
]Offroad/:m]
]Safety/:m][/ul]

Bonus points
Even though the CEO has been removed from the design chair he still wants to have a word in what ABR’s cars should look like. There will be an additional score between 0 to 50 possible purely based on his impression of the car. This should be low enough to not be essential but still an incentive to make something pretty.

Submissions
If it works don’t mess with it, so send me a pm with the exported car files. Naming format will be:
[ul]]Car model cell: DTF (forum username)/:m]
]Car trim cell: (car model name) (car trim name)/:m]
]Engine family cell: DTF (forum username)/:m]
]Engine variant cell: (engine name) (engine variant name)/:m][/ul]

I really love when people advertise or promote their cars, so please feel free to place ads or teasers of the cars you are submitting

Final comments:**
Yes, I know, DTF is a funny acronym, but it stays. I will do my best to keep this challenge as fair and unbiased as possible, and while the premise says I will use this car in ABR, all designs will of course remain your own unless you explicitly express otherwise. With a great turnout for the first challenge I hope to improve further on my experiences and improve yours. I have been irking quite a lot to do a multistage challenge, so going completely HAM might not be the best solution in the long run for this. Blurbs at least are incoming, most likely some reviews as well.

The best of luck to all participants!

Production Year?

This looks fun! I assume the design year is 2016, or something else?

Once again a derp on edits, sorry. Thecarlover is absolutely correct, the design year is 2016, but any model is viable

What factory size should we use for the market calculations? I’ve got a car that costs a little under 125k when made by a Tiny factory, but only 90.5k when made by a Medium 1 one.

In this challenge, and challenges in general unless stated otherwise, medium factory 2 in gasmea markets are the standard. This is the standard choice by the game whenever making a new car and thus the most common option unless the challenge is very specific to make life easier for the gamemaster. Fire away if you have any more questions

Bogliq Automotive would like to offer the latest Ambassador for your company line-up…

yeah… with the update. V12 turbo, here i come!

Really interesting to see the different approaches by the entrants so far, they are quite different from each other. Will do an initial photoshop with some short blurbs comments for all entries in before Sunday 21th 3PM GMT as well as update the challenge with some prettier graphics

Here is the proposal from Solo Motors Co., the Quicksilver in Luxury trim. The engine is a 4.5L V8 from the luxury Diamond Automotive division, and the design is the work of Solo designers. Coming in at under $60,000, it’s a huge hit in many key market demographics. We hope a sporty luxury shooting brake is what ABR needs for the future.

Introducing the latest performance machine from Kirk:

The ultimate performance car for the modern era.

Pre-order this limited production machine at your local dealer!

To ABR: We suggest going halves on the project, and putting different badges on the ABR version with slightly modified styling. Seems to be the ‘in’ thing to do!

Revera presents: The GTX-R1.

the entry for this challenge comes directly from the core of stensen automotive. back in 1964, stensen automotive was getting in financial distress because it was notoriously building fancy, yet too extreme sports cars to sell in the mass markets. extreme measures were called for that caused many layoffs but also some leading engineers to quit as they were not willing to build boring mass production cars. among them was wiseman, who decided to retire at the age of 55. however, still being in love with cars he soon got bored and started building his own car with several friends that used to work for stensen. in 1969, they finished building a carbon fibre chassis and added components from stensen automotive. the first wiseman. this car was such a monster on the race track that wiseman and his friends founded a new company that started with selling cheaper replicas of the car. the company grew and got more professional until they finally turned into the official tuning division of stensen automotive in 1984, just a few months before wiseman finally retired and his son took his position as the managing director. the original wiseman, until today the single carbon fibre version of the car, was continuously worked on by old wiseman and later his son. they won countless racing trophies with this car. wiseman jun is the chairman of stensen automotive today and decided to submit his newly overhauled version of the wiseman for this competition to show off what stensen is made of. it might not become the car that ABR’s board will be driving around with, but it actually is the one stensen’s board is driving on the race track. and it is even literally made by them. we admit that this car isn’t as practical and economical as a modern everday car should be. however, it is very quick, very fun, and technically street legal!

edit: rumors say that wiseman jun tried to physically assault one of his colleagues in the board room after hearing about this. stensen wants to make clear that his is just the result of a big misunderstamding. luckily, we managed to release our 2016 production version of the wiseman just in time for this competition.

i changed the front a little to provide sufficient cooling (car16.png). i am very interested in feedback on the lower grill as i am not too sure whether i like it or not.

Sorry for the delay in teaser and updates. I have gotten some unexpected assistance upgrading my bike irl, but will update shortly. Appreciate the patience and look forward to reviewing this, several interesting choices so far

Here we have the civilian version of Normandy’s “Presidential Escape Vehicle”, the Valentine.

It has a 6.0L DOHC 48v V12 with 750 HP, bolted to an 6-speed manual AWD Gearbox.

Anyone can drive around in a sports car.

Anyone can drive around in a muscle car.

Quintessential people will arrive in an Endeavour.

I’d like to present the First Order Endeavour fitted with our 790hp Oxford V12 engine.

Thank you all for the great submissions, I will be reviewing and dooing some simple artwork suited my limited abilities in the coming week or so. There might be some delay since I keep getting help getting my Kawa up and running properly again. Once the results are done it is quite possible that there will be a part 2 of this challenge

hope your kawa is doing well!

At long last I am almost done with school and have the time to finalize what I should have several months ago. My apologies for the delay and there are probably some glitches and small changes as it is a new build, but better finished with some roughness than not at all right? Also, these blurbs are meant as humoristic which can be difficult to relay in writing, take 'em with a smile  So, the results:

VosNox: The car was received and appeared to be in order, but when we opened the crate there was nothing there, not even a pink slip. Unable to judge what can not be seen or tested it is ruled a suspicious DNF. We suspect Fruinian environmentalists might be involved in the kidnapping of your car

MadamVastra: Unlike with VosNox we did receive the crate, but it was password protected and whenever we tried to open it with the supplied password we got an error message. While the metal crate looks great, it is not a car. Unfortunately it is judged as a DNF as well. Let’s blame Archanaite haqz0rz with 1337 sk1Lz having fun

10th Place: Vri404, 495,15 points
At half the cost of the second cheapest contender we suspect the designers of the Koinu C L weren’t used to this kind of budget and it showed. It was categorically below average in all areas except acceleration, hence the last place. And while not being ugly, it is not very pretty either. Volume model, perhaps, but no flagship.

9th Place: Stensen, 545,18 points
While this body in general is rather pretty, it is not particularly modern, and with some lackluster characteristics the Wiseman simply can’t cut it in todays industry. Perhaps keep gramps retired and hire someone who knows this millenium?

8th Place: carskick 573,33 points
While the GTR is a pretty cool car, we get more of a copycat vibe from the Kirk Z99. The lines are decent, but the Fast and the Furious(1) is almost a decade old and this car would be perfect for it. Still, it is quite a step up from the previous two contenders, and pretty close to the upcoming two. The worst-in-challenge drivability is probably what kept this car from steppung up a few places.

7th Place: CaddilacDave, 574,29 points
Called the Godfather Special, this all black sedan is a proper gangster car. Unfortunately, gangsters don’t like sportiness, and with the worst sportiness by far as well as mediocre drivability, this is an offer we will have to refuse for now.

6th Place: thecarlover, 579,13 points
Sleek lines and a stunning front lines slides the Quicksilver Luxury just ahead of the previous two challengers. Unfortunately for it, the lack of prestige as well as mediocre stats lands it in the middle of the pack. An acceptable effort.

5th Place: Boksi, 607,84 points
First contender above 600 points, the Virtus FYGM is not a looker, and the only car we received to receive 0 aestetic points. In fact, had these ben removed for all participants, this would’ve been 2nd place. Good stats are not enough for a flagship though, keep the designer of shrooms next time.

4th Place: HighOctaneLove, 611,53 points
Bogliq are known for delivering solid and reliable cars, and the Ambassador GT is no exception to this. However, it does not really inspire anyone here at the office. You could mistake it for a Passat, and when the handling only is above average, you don’t make it to the top. But well balanced attempt none the less.

3rd Place: titleguy1, 617,48 points
While four seats in this body is tight, it apparently still is possible. The characteristics are quite similar to the Ambassador GT, but the Rerum Gran Coupe looks the part by quite a bit. We think. even if there is something… odd. But it invokes more feelings at least… yeah.

2nd Place: TR8R, 643,93 points
Apparently, old is gold, as both the Wiseman and now the First Order Endeavour have scored above average in regards to design and looks. The F.O.E. however, has the prestige and drivability to go with cool looks, and the well balanced characteristics are able to scoot it close to the top. Close, but no cigar.

1st Place: Asdren, 670,56 points
None above, none at the sides, the Revera GT-XR1 Prototype is in a league of its own. Not only does this car provide a stunning visual impression, it brings the “umph” to back it up. Highest top speed, acceleration, sportiness as well as second best prestige, what is there not to love? It even has room for two of those tiny people in the back, the ones no one really likes… children! Congratulations to Asdren for a fantastic contribution to the challenge.
