Dimension Motors - Back in Business!

Wow… looks even better than it sounded

Tau is the name Hyundai uses for their V8 :stuck_out_tongue:

Double kill

And Rennen is what the R stands for in SLR. So now we both are using names IRL companies use.

Seems like I’m the only one with a company that hasn’t got a stolen name or named after some real life car / company.

##Why We Do Things The Way We Do? An Exclusive Interview to the CEO America’s strangest megacorporation

We’ve managed to get score an interview with an anonymous board member of Dimension Motors, one of America’s most prominent and large auto companies known for strange business decisions and having the government bail them out 8 years ago in the 2008 crisis. Also notorious for being by far the most reserved and secretive large companies, with very very few press releases on incoming tech or models except when ready to launch.

We’ve boiled down the interview into the following questions.

  1. Why no V8s? It seems strange for an American company to not make them.
A: We did for a long time though. Only recently with the discontinuation of the Paradox 6 did we stop. The simple answer is, we were adamant to stay OHV as long as possible and the rising emissions and regulations aren’t kind to it. When we couldn’t use the OHV anymore, we thought that it was pointless, the whole point of a V8 was to build a performance car, and the whole point of a performance car is to stand out. You see the market these days and everybody and their mother has a DOHC V8 in everything. Hell even Erin used it on their eco cars. Also it would require a through re-engineering of the engine, that we thought might as well go for a V12 to make headlines.

  2. Why so many sports cars?
A: We can build them cheaply thanks to our emphasis on handling and strength when designing new platforms thus sports cars can be built on sedan platforms and still maintain excellent handling. Only the A (Nine-50/Hypero) and Z chassis (Nova/Entropy/Boson) are bespoke. Also the cars tend to end up sharing alot of components with each other driving development costs down further. So in the end we get a solid reputation boost for little in the way of cost.

  3. What would you say to be Dimension’s design philosophy when building new models?
A: Hmm difficult to say since different models have different goals in mind. But we do enforce a large focus on finding the right balance and setting over using expensive parts. To us, you save alot of money making a regular part work to it’s maximum potential and prime setting over ordering bespoke components that offer minimal differences for alot more money. This of course does not apply to our more high end models such as our supercars no. But even those… while we maintain a very strict policy of only using high quality parts… we still will cut out purchases that we deem unnecessary. In the end our supercars became some of the fastest cars to have ever been built around a track, while still maintaing road usability and remains cheaper than it’s competitors.

  4. What are Dimension’s plans for the near future?
A: As you can see with our 2016 line up, Dimension aims to improve it’s market reputation to firmly place it as a premium brand in the general public’s eyes. Reputation is everything. Some companies think they can thrive off making cheap cars exclusively. They’d be wrong. What if the more premium brands start to want some of that market share? What if they made a budget model that competes directly with yours while having significantly higher brand prestige? Public doesn’t care if it costs more, breaks down easy, isn’t that good to drive, all those are countered by the fact that you’re driving that brand and they’re not. This was a problem when the Boson first came out, we were having serious trouble selling even for a supercar not helped when KHT decided to release their Sepang.

Very well written interview, and I really like the idea of including some comments on the world of Automation too. Thanks for mentioning me too

Good to hear more about your company. I’m surprised you don’t offer any V8s for some reason I just assumed you did. So it looks like you’re in the boat as Saminda and Maesima as brands without them.

##Dimension Secret Vault Tour

As you all know car companies often have a gargantuan storage facility filled with historic models and concepts and obscure prototypes that remain a secret to most. So with a bit of help from a security guard and a helpful inside engineer I’ve managed to gain access into Dimension’s very own vault of broken dreams and what could’ve beens.

And what a sight too. Ghastly messily assembled prototypes left to ruin everywhere, several historic cars, a few competitor cars that weren’t taken apart for research you know the usual stuff. But on the very end of the warehouse, there was a curiously clean silver tarp covering an unknown vehicle with ready access to the exit, a strange speck of cleanliness in the dust and rust emporium.

What a sight it truly was.

Entropy FM Prototype 12

The engineer explains it as: " An Entropy FM spare chassis we decided to turn into a performance test bed. With a modified DCT transmission ripped off a Gryphon Gear Ouroborous and a bunch of weight savings being it’s only major changes. We decided not to release it because the cost of developing the DCT would be too much"

The specs that matter:
0-60: 2.3
1/4 mile: 8.7 @ 174 mph
Top Speed: 230 mph
Power: 1145 HP @ 7200 RPM
Torque: 1400 NM @ 5100 RPM

Airfield: 1:03.95
Automation TT: 1:47.78
MRLS: 1:23.41
Tsukuba: 52.69

###THIS CAR IS NOT STREET LEGAL SO TAKE IT’S TIMES WITH A GRAIN OF SALT. IT IS BUILT TO SHOWCASE HOW MUCH DCT MAKES A DIFFERENCE AND HOW FAST THE CAR CAN GO WITHOUT ADDITIONAL MODIFICATIONS TO THE MOTOR.

##2018 Dimension Axino 7.0 SSP

Completing Dimension’s 2018 target of 4 V12 powered uber premium machines, the Axino 7.0 SSP is an American attempt at making the quintessential European Super SUV to sell to Sheiks and newly rich Chinese Housewives. The two trims for the Akino are like Jekyll and Hyde: one is a mild, turbo six-cylinder crossover and the other is an insane V12 SUV unlike any other.

AWD! Cheating! :stuck_out_tongue: And how much power does it have?

K locked diff so I have the disadvantage of having all the AWD gear but only RWD.

Oh lookie I’m even quicker. No this won’t be in the reviewing.

Still, how much power? Because with half the power more, it isn’t that hard to beat C2000R.

With 300 kg less, it isn’t hard to beat me.

560 HP. Detuned race engine.
