Keyboard with no assists is not that bad either, better than attempting to play Assetto Corsa or Live For Speed with a keyboard
And thatās with no assists, on hardcore difficulty mode.

That was Saab with the joystick cars. Anyway Iāll pass on this too despite it being free because fuck driving on keyboards. The Crew was shitty enough anyway.
lel, feedback is not even a feature
@ramthecowy comparing this to The Crew?? -_-
itās just for fun. for the community. why not? itās freaking free
at least just redeem to the code to get it onto your steam, and decide if you want to download it or not later. the time limit is only until tomorrow
Iāll say this much: Itās actually possible to do okay with the keyboard. Admittedly, Iām playing on casual settings, but that was more because I donāt like dealing with AI traffic while Iām trying a new game. Sure, I know that setting up my ancient Logitech wheel would make more sense, but thatād require getting it out of the cabinet, getting it all set up, and rigging it with a power supply to make the force feedback work.
And Iāll admit, itās kinda fun. Takes forever to get anywhere and I had a few crashes until I decided to pretty much hack-job things and run in DX9 mode and force it to run as Administrator, but then it played stable.
And for a light-hearted arcade rally game, itās actually remarkably fun to play. I had more fun in the 2 hours I threw at it than I have in many other racing games, and thatās more because the arcade physics arenāt so arcadey that you can get away with too much. You can flip cars in this, as I found out a couple times, even with all the assists on for my first couple races. Cars slide, yes, but these feelā¦ not realistic, but not the awful āAll cars are on iceā feeling you get with a lot of drifting based games. Thereās a sense of grip, and as a result, a sense of grip-roll. As I found out when I rolled an RS200 and felt really, really stupid for doing it because it cost me the race.
Yeah, the physics arenāt too bad. It gets better with all assists off and whatever other settings they have for realism. It may not be a perfect simulationā¦ but its no Need For Speed either; save for Shift / Shift 2 Unleashedā¦ it is probably most similar to that, actually.
I never really had a time where I thought āthatās not what would happen in realityā. Gymkhana asideā¦ thatās just wizardry in game and in reality. That said, I also have a Logitech G27 and I try to drive realisticallyā¦ and Iām going off of the memory of 3 years agoā¦ havenāt played this in way too long; or Dirt 2 for that matter. Sadly no multiplayer on Dirt 2 anymore. I think I actually enjoyed Dirt 2 even more than Dirt 3. The fact that it had a Nissan wasnāt a factor at allā¦ noā¦ notā¦ atā¦ allā¦ The sound of that VQā¦ ohhhā¦
Itās worth getting the wheel out when you have the time, I think.
Anyway, glad to hear youāre enjoying it.
Do you need some time to yourself and your Nissan soundtrack?
Wonder what you thought about Grid, which had tuned 350z and BNR34 in it.
But yes codemasters does do a mean āsimcadeā. More hardcore simmers got a bit sick of some of the dumb gameplay options in the Codemasters series (like Grid 2ā¦ What were they thinking). Sort 3 had some cool shit in it but most of us want more rally and less X Games and definitely no Gymkhana hence Dirt: Rally seems like exactly what we want. Hooray for a dev responding to its fan base so well, fans are a demanding bunch but that is a golden move and the only reason I havenāt preordered it yet is because I would definitely get my G27 back out and then definitely fail my part 1 next year
Youāre going to laughā¦ but I saved a Youtube video of some guy racing the 350Z in Dirt 2 with some appealing background music in itā¦ and I use that video as my music fairly often.
Iāve never played Grid. I remember watching a few gameplay videos of it, and it looked painfully arcade to me, so I ignored itā¦ then Grid 2 didnāt have a cockpit view, so I also ignored it, and I didnāt have any hope for Grid Autosport left, so I ignored that as well.
Yeah, Iāve heard/seen really good things about Dirt:Rally, but I canāt run it, so Dirt 2 and 3 are my rally games.
As for Gymkhanaā¦ I have mixed feelings. I love it in reality, but I am not capable of doing it myself well in game, and Iāll never try in reality. I can really only pass it in gameā¦ bronze or silver; I try to at least get a silver on every one of themā¦ Iāll manage an occasional gold here and thereā¦ but never platnium. (Dirt 3 had 4 medals, right? )
Well. Guess it doesnāt hurt to grab a key. Now I have both The Crew and Dirt for free. Hurray for consumerism.
wat?
Played split screen with my boy, went away for a minute, came back, heād crashed head-on into me and my speedo said 385kmh.
SAAB.
What you say: āHey, letās try Gymkhana.ā
What Luke hears: āHey, go wreck the car.ā
Iāll admit, other than Gymkhana and Drift, I find this a lot of fun. And yes, that is the practice area and yes, that was a Mitsubishi Lancer at some point before I destroyed it. Drift, Iām getting better at, but I think the Gymkhana sections are going to be brutal until I get my wheel set up and running.
Thanks! Iāll go and screw this games multiplayer w. Jacob now!
Iād suggest not buying a cheap non-FFB wheel.
Itās not much better than playing with a controller, and the controller has the advantage of being cheaper and a lot more versatile.
Meanwhile im waiting for next nonth before i can playā¦
Huh?
You asked who made a car with a joystick. Didnāt see that was already answered.
