Do we have anything like a 350Z in the works?

Just curious.

Not yet, but we do need some more Coupes eventually.

i agree a nice 350 styled coupe would be pretty cool as well as a miata but I dont want a miata unless we get rotarys which I know is not happening for a long time if at all.

I want a miata REGARDLESS of if we get rotary’s or not!

lol that part was more sarcasm :stuck_out_tongue: I would still want a miata chassis regardless, besides boosted inline six or even boosted v8 would do the trick

Did Mazda ever sell an MX5 / Miata with a rotary engine, thought they were only in the RX series

no it was never offered with a Rotary but it should have been.

I don’t think so, it would have ruined the reputation of being fun, cheap, and RELIABLE.

I think the Rotary cars are called RX
I know there was a RX3 and a RX4 and everyone knows the RX7.

Also the RX8

I dont feel this is the case at all, many manufactures run the same chassis but have a variety of engines for that chassis. It could have easily been a revamped 2 rotor N/A engine dropped it in and had two different models. Im not saying that the 4 cylinder in the Miata is a bad engine by any means because its not and is very mod friendly, I just feel they built a great chassis to throw a more powerful lighter engine into.

Here in Australia there is a company that started out installing 13B-REW’s into MX-5’s but due to a lack of supply they use the Lexus 4L V8 instead! :open_mouth:

I reckon a 3rd gen MX-5 with a Renesis would have been awesome! :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Plus the RX-5 and the RX-8! :geek:

No RX-6? Or is that the Cosmo?

Nope, there wasn’t a RX-6 as far as I’m aware (There was a MX-6 here in Aus and MX-3’s elsewhere) as the Cosmo coupe is actually a Eunos! The Cosmo was hand built so that it would represent the pinnacle of luxury and exclusivity. Unfortunately it was too expensive and its cheaper brothers too Japanese to support Eunos as a viable brand. If Mazda had’ve been richer and invested in RWD cars for Eunos then we’d be talking about then in the same breath as Lexus but history shows which way Mazda went :frowning:

The Eunos Cosmo was the ONLY car offered with the 20b engine. (Or the more common 13B from the RX-7.)
It was definetly RWD.

Yeah the Cosmo was RWD but the other Eunos models (Other than the re-badged 929’s) weren’t (which is what I was referring to). Both the Eunos 500 and 800 were FWD and as such weren’t even considered as competition to an equivalent BMW or Mercedes Benz. Mazda spent heaps of money marketing the Eunos brand and it flopped resulting in Ford’s majority shareholding and the Mazda we know and love today… :ugeek:

As for the 20B, I was aware of the Cosmo being the only Mazda with it fitted. I just didn’t mention it because the conversation was about rotaries and both the 13b and the 20b were rotary engines… :stuck_out_tongue:
