I see what you mean. Every time the devs talk about turbochargers being buggy, I think of the twin turbos for the V-8s. It’s near impossible to get a flat torque curve with turbo spool before 3,000 rpm and make that same power. Basically, you have to choose one of the three: power, flat torque curve, or early spool.

yes, you’re right. however for me it’s always a choice between flat power curve and flat torque curve. And if an engine is high-revving (like 7.5k+) i prefer to have a flat torque curve because then the power can climb and climb and you as a driver can let the engine sing and enjoy that, like you see in the regular Weta. But with a low-revving engine like in the Weta XX, i find it better to have a flatter power curve because then the power is accessible earlier and longer, it’s a plateau rather than a peak. And i think this is the only reason why the Weta XX can do 0-100kph in 3.5 secs with “only” 400hp at almost 1700kg, it’s ridiculous

That last line explains exactly why I find that car to be brilliant. For my own company, I use a flat torque curve regardless of the application because of - like you said - you can gain power easily. If you open your mind a bit, you would think that your method would be favored on trucks too, so they can rev lower to make good power while still having low-end torque.

now for a car that deserves the place in this performance-dedicated thread more than any other: The Dragonfly SR!
As always, its looks will polarise, some love it, some hate it but one thing is for sure: it shows what it’s got! wide arches, big wing, 4 exhausts, aggressive LEDs: this is a car to be feared. Should this car appear in your rear view mirror, it would probably scare you off.

The engine in this car is still the same 4.0 TT V8 as in the previous generation Dragonfly SR and it still makes 750hp.
Now to sum things up: this car has 20 more horsepower than a Pagani Huayra, better power-to-weight than a supercharged Ariel Atom, AWD and a 7-speed double-clutch gearbox. So what follows now should not be a surprise:

Also, this is my first car to touch 300km/h on the Automation Track’s main straight, Daffy Flyer:

For all that performance, a fuel consumption of 9.3l/100km and a price tag of 125.000€ is actually very good considering it does the quarter mile a whole second faster than the Lamborghini Aventador. The reason this costs “only” 25.000€ more than the Mantis HP is that, other than the exterior looks, the engine and slight suspension changes this isn’t a lot different.

Greets,
Tom

I don’t really think there’s any point in wide arches unless it also has wide tires, it seems you don’t edit the tire/wheel size at all

look at the stats  the pics of the car are made in the platform editor where you can’t change tyre width.

His car has wide tyres. 275 and 305 mm

Here’s the Buzzard HP!

The Peregrine will remain as a concept since the devs said hybrid technology won’t be in the game, but the Peregrine’s spirit (the 1.5L 375hp I4T) lives on in the new Buzzard HP! And because the Buzzard HP is made from carbon fibre and gets super light interior and no entertainment, it weighs just under 1000kg. That makes it pretty fast!

But it’s by no means a terryfying thorough bred because of the AWD, traction control, stability control, power steering and ABS. That means even your grandma can drive this car. However, she probably won’t use its full potential.

Unlike the normal Buzzard, this isn’t a bargain any more because of the carbon fibre, the AWD, the 7-speed double-clutch gearbox and the high quality engine (which despite the 250hp/L makes for over 66.000km MTBF). So prices will start at around 60.000€ which is still quite a bit cheaper than the new BMW M3.

Also, guys, i thought that i owe you something. And it’s the HP versions of the new Eagle family!
The coupe first:

and here’s the saloon:

Despite making almost twice the power of the Buzzard HP, neither of the Eagle HP’s versions is able to keep up with it around the track. The coupe does it in 142.26 seconds, the saloon in 141.56 and i have no idea why the saloon is faster despite more weight and worse drag coefficient. However, the Eagle HP, be it coupe or saloon, is awesome if you want a car for blasting down the Autobahn because it’ll be quite a good GT car and obscenely fast as you can tell by the top speed!
The price for each of them will be around 95.000€, so a bit more than the BMW M3/M4 but easily worth it.

That’s all for today, i hope you enjoy

Greets,
Tom

Hey guys, i’m introducing the new Sparrow HP!

Featuring a solid 3.0 I6T with 350hp, plenty of torque and a 7-speed double-clutch gearbox, this RWD coupe will do 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds while using only 5.5l/100km. It’ll beat the BMW M235i not only in terms of performance, but also in terms of fuel economy but the Sparrow HP will probably cost a little bit more because it’s made from carbon fibre. But it will do the Automation Track in 142.1 seconds, which is quite good for “only” 350hp and RWD.

Also, the new Mantis HP is ready to rock!

With its 4.2L V8 NA with 450hp, it does 0-100km/h in 3.0 seconds, it uses 8.5l/100km and its track time is 138.3 seconds on the Automation Track!

Greets,
Tom

Hello everyone, today i present you the Eagle HP! Let’s start with the Coupe

And here’s the Saloon:

The engine is still the same 5.2L TT V8 as in the previous generation, for several reasons. Firstly, i think 700hp is enough for a car that rivals BMW M3/M4, Mercedes C63 AMG and Audi RS4. Secondly, it makes a very nice power curve, the last 2000RPM or so it’s almost flat. Thirdly, it makes for incredible top speeds (382km/h for the Coupe, 378km/h for the Saloon due to slightly worse drag coefficient). Both do 0-100km/h in 4.4/4.5 seconds, and both will do the Automation Track in about 142 seconds. I know that’s not fantastic for a car with that amount of power, but they aren’t even made from carbon fibre and the cambers aren’t near their sharpest. That’s because this is still a car you can live with every day, despite the huge power output.

Greets,
Tom

The front of the Eagle HP Coupe is brilliant

thank you very much

Hey everyone, today i present you the next generation Dragonfly SR! As always, this is the pinnacle of hot hatch performance with a polarising aggressive design. If the Mercedes A45 AMG is hot like a fire, then the Dragonfly SR is a volcano.

The engine is still the same 4.0L Twin-turbo V8 with 750hp, but everything else is even sharper than before. It now comes with Semi Slicks because i found them suiting to a car that carries “Street Racing” in its name. Also, the suspension and aerodynamics have been worked on, so this car now generates enough downforce to pull 1.3g of cornering! Don’t believe it? Here’s the proof!

Also, this car is extremely neutral and will only understeer a little bit on the very limit

Last but not least, the price. 150.000€. I know that’s 25.000€ more than the previous generation, but this one is better in every single way. It accelerates slightly faster, corners even better, there’s less understeer and so on. Even so, it costs not even half as much as a Lamborghini Aventador which wouldn’t stand a chance against this car.

Greets,
Tom

REMINDER: if you are unhappy with your car design or just think it could do with a little bit more sportiness (or that the engine could use more power), the Speed Academy will tune your car and solve your problem(s)

Hey everyone, this is the new Puma HP! Its main rivals are the Mercedes CLA 45 AMG and the Subaru WRX STI. (Similarities with the STI of previous generations are intended)

As in the STI, the engine is a 2.5L turbocharged engine with 4 cylinders (flat 4 in the Subaru, Inline 4 in the Puma HP). However, while the STI still gets the same engine as its previous generation, making 305hp, the Puma HP makes 375hp. That way, the Puma HP does 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds, making it accelerate even faster than a Porsche Carrera GT. Being an STI and CLA 45 AMG rival, this car has AWD and a 7-speed double-clutch gearbox.

I don’t know exactly how much fuel the STI uses. But i still think 8.2l/100km for the Puma HP is pretty okay. Also, it will cost you around 42.500€, making it more than 20.000€ less expensive than the AMG. I can’t tell the price of the STI here in Austria because they don’t sell it here but i think it might be around the same as the Puma HP or maybe a bit more.

Tom

Hey guys. As you know, the Porsche Panamera Turbo S doesn’t have a lot of competition in its class. Well, there’s the BMW M6 Grand Coupe, the Mercedes CLS 63 AMG, the upcoming Audi RS7, the Jaguar XJ and the Maserati Quattroporte GTS. However, the Panamera always wins. But that might change with this car, the new Tiger HP!

It’s certainly better looking than the Panamera, but with AWD, an 8-speed double-clutch gearbox and a 6.0L NA V8 with 540hp, this car is not only about the looks.

Included in the 130.000€ price tag is luxury interior (quality slider +5), luxury entertainment, all driver aids (except launch control) advanced safety options, the big wing, reasonable fuel consumption and the ability to beat the hell out of the Panamera Turbo S.

So overall, this car offers you a very good package for almost 100.000€ less than the Panamera Turbo S. Why would anyone buy that car any more?

Greets,
Tom

At first i was hesitating to put this into the Speed Academy, but here it is nonetheless: The Flea HP!

It may only have a 2.0L I6T with 200hp, but it’s still fast enough to out accelerate your dad’s Mercedes E500. That’s mostly because of its much lower weight. The lack of weight is also one of the main reasons why this car is pretty economical as well.

Also, and especially compared to the E-class, the Flea (HP or not) offers you much more space on the inside as well as a big boot. So, at 20.000€ it seems like a bit of a bargain, right?

Hi everyone, today i’d like to present you something slightly unusual, it’s the first car of the Speed Academy which can’t be purchased by ordinary people. It’s the Harrier.

The Harrier has secretly always been the ace in the hole of Germany’s and Austria’s Police Departments. It has 1hp more than Satan’s car to cleanse the world from evil-doers. It’ll even out chase you if you own a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera and decide it would be a good idea to try and use the highway to get rid of the Police.

But it’s not only fast, it’s also great for showing off, because it’s RWD only. It’s also the star of Fast and Felonious, in which the Harrier drifts its way through narrow city streets chasing after criminals and successfully stopping them.

The platform has been gladly handed over to Nyancatx3 to create an awesome REV

Greets,
Tom

Thanks for adding me to your post! glad that you like it ^^
The Harrier is also one of my favourite cars you’ve designed! everything fits together and it just looks awesome ~

As i announced in the DQE thread, i’ll show you the other 2 versions of the Fly now!
First up, the Fly R is my new WRC homologated rallye car. As such, it has a 1.6L I4T with 300hp, a 6-speed gearbox, AWD and it weighs exactly 1200kg. You’ll also note that the tail lights are now proper LEDs.

The performance figures shouldn’t surprise anyone too much, it’s a rallye car after all:

But obviously there has to be a faster version still. The Fly SR.

Of course, SR stands for Street Racing and as such, this car is basically a road-going version of the Rallye car. But since there’s no restriction to cubic capacity, amout of cylinders or power output on the road, i decided to add another 4 cylinders and 1700cc to the 1.6L I4T, and then fiddle with the turbo setup a bit more.

It out accelerates not only a Lamborghini Aventador and a Pagani Huayra, but also a McLaren P1 which is currently the fastest accelerating car in the world. The engine that makes this possible is this:

And to all those of you asking whether it’s faster than the Dragonfly SR: yes, it is. The Dragonfly SR does the Automation Track in 130.84 seconds whereas the Fly SR does it in 130.24, so it’s 0.6 seconds faster. That being said, it’s not more expensive than the Dragonfly SR, it costs just 100.000€. But the Dragonfly SR is more everyday usable because it has less turbo boost which kicks in earlier, making it more predictable and the Dragonfly SR’s top speed is almost 350km/h while the Fly SR can’t reach 300. (that doesn’t make the Dragonfly SR more everyday usable though). EDIT: I should probably also mention that since this car is based on the rallye car and in Rallye sports, no driver aids are allowed, the SR doesn’t come with any driver aids either. That’s why it will only be sold to people with a valid racing licence.

Hope you like it

Tom
