Early 2000s Villiger Vancouver RC

soo… triple post it is…

PARTS GALORE!!!

The fun stuff begins.
I bought quite a few parts for the project.
Below is a pic of them including a list of parts accompanied by their price, type of part and reason of purchase.

  • 1 : front/ rear tyre; Schwalbe Marathon; 29EUR [ 32USD ] each;
    Bought those because the old ones were technically legal, but both of them were mostly bald and had heavy sidewall cracking due to being underinflated.
    I am hoping to ge

  • 2 : saddle post; ConTec SP-060 slim; 85 EUR [ 94USD ];
    Mainly to counteract the loss of comfort of the Schwalbe tyres (part 1)… especially when ran at the higher end of the recommended pressure, that being about 5.7bars [ 82.6psi ]. Hopes are the high price point will be worth it…

  • 3 : saddle; ConTec Anatomic 2; 40EUR [ 44USD ];
    Again a comfort oriented afterthought. The current one was comfortable enough, but about 6 years old and not as… pristine anymore…

  • 4 : heat shrink tubing; 11EUR [ 12USD ];
    Comort feature again, especially in the winter time. Those will go onto the brake levers (parts 5 and 6) to allow me to grip them without my hands freezing in the process. :smiley:

  • 5 : right brake lever; Shimano BL40000R; 16EUR [ 18USD ];
    Now we are getting into the more critical purchases. While the old ones were… sufficient, i really wanted new levers for a better feel when working the brakes. Also, they look far better than the current ones.

  • 6 : left brake lever; Shimano BL40000R; 16EUR [ 18USD ];
    The same as part 5, just for the left hand.

  • 7 : brake pads; Shimano S65T; 10EUR [ 11USD ];
    I BADLY needed those! The ones i have were chewed through to the point where the brake lever went all the way to the handlebar while having the spongiest feel EVER. At least they were safe-ish from a braking power standpoint…

  • 8 : copy of part 7

  • 9 : inner tube; unknown ; 6EUR [ 7USD ];
    Neither broken nor leaking any noticeable air… Stil got then since i am changing the tyres anyway and i might as well put nre inner tubes in while i am at it…

  • 10: copy of part 9

  • 11: bike lock; B-Twin 920; 40EUR [ 44USD ];
    Let´s be real. Would you leave your car with a shitton of new parts unloked on the parking lot? Me neither. A lock better than my current shitty spiral thing was a must-buy in my eyes.

  • 12: halogen lightbulb; unknown ; 4EUR [ 4USD ];
    Well… i did manage to fix my headlight at some point after discovering that it wasn´t grounded, but even after grounding it using a leftover bolt in the frame, it wasn`t particularly bright. We´ll see if a new bulb can fix this…
    Otherwise i might have to spend about 180EUR* [ 198USD ] on a new, prober lighting set including a wheel hub generator.

  • 13; NOT SHOWN; valve adapter; ConTec Original; 4EUR [ 4USD ];
    Valve adapter allowing my to pump up my new tyres using free air at the gas station.

Inastalling is due for this saturday (in two days). could not be more hyped after spending 200+EUR [ 221+USD ] on fawnceh new parts.

Cheers,
Elizipeazie
