OK, I kinda screwed up. Okay, maybe a lot. I’d COMPLETELY forgot about RON/AKI, so I’ll fix that. I’ll update the OP, but cars should meet these restrictions:
300 HP OR 1:4 power:weight ratio.
$25,000
OVER 40 MPG (US). NOT 40 ON THE DOT.
Emissions under 30.
Sportiness of car over 50.
Reliability over 40.
Weight under 1300 KG.
RON under 95.
So when you say under 95RON, does that mean we’re not allowed to use 95RON?
Yes, it does.
Yeah, minor details. Guess back to the drawing board. I should still be able to easily make the rest of the specs with how much room I left myself.
FYI, if you’re going to say “Under 95 RON” and not allow 95 RON, you should probably just say “Regular unleaded” to make it less vague.
The Ardent Avenger Eco. For people who don’t like a front-mounted wing glued onto their great-grandfather’s Oldsmobile.
And/or want more than “exactly 40 mpg”.
And more than 300 HP.
And want to use fuel they can actually find (95 RON)
Nice trash talking. If my car actually manages to beat yours around the track, I’ll feel that much less guilty for rubbing it in your face.
I’d say that’s fair.
So we pretty much have to use regular unleaded?
I suppose technically speaking we could use Regular Leaded, which is 92 RON, but that doesn’t fit the spirit of the competition IMO. So when I redesign, it will be with Regular Unleaded.
Edit: aaand I’m an idiot. regular leaded won’t work with a cat, which would mean your emissions would go ballistic. So yeah, Regular Unleaded.
My previous entry is rendered invalid, as it ran on premium unleaded -_- Prato Motors is going to retune if possible, i really don’t want to start from the block up.
Sorry, I’m an idiot again, I was looking at it as AKI D: But, yes, you must be able to use Regular Unleaded as a fuel. So far, I think RON and AKI are almost the same, albeit a 3-4 difference.
Yeah it’s enough difference to determine what type of fuel we can actually use. Regular unleaded it is!
Revising the engine promptly to run using regular unleaded the team at Prato Motor Company cranked out a doozey. Having 7 less horsepower then the previous revision, the 301hp Prato Zoope Eco Racer was over 100lbs lighter, while maintaining a manufacturing cost of less then 17,000.00$. With a 6 speed all-wheel-drive transmission with no overdrive it is capable of 45 miles per gallon efficiency and an emissions rating of 23.
Introducing the Bogliq Ecostar!!!
Retuned for the definitive rules, the Bogliq Ecostar is quick, frugal yet excitement personified… Welcome to the 21st Century people!
Because we’ve lost our minds here at Centauri here is our entry, some of you might recognize the body as the same used on the BSLL Vindicator, why mess with perfection? the only exterior change is painting it to better suit it’s new goal. I give you… the GREEN MONSTER! now scroll down and see that, yes that is a massive v8 wedged into it, almost as big as the 9.7 in the vindicator!
How did you make an engine that large an eco-freak? Surely it uses more than 5.88L/100Km…
Madness, this’ll egg on Strop to make an engine bigger, more frugal AND making more power just to prove it’s doable,
]With a cam of under 30,low compression, low friction pistons, DI and a reallllly lean mix. I’m not gonna say my horsepower, but I will boast about the 616lbft of torque.
Scary. If you don’t win the comp, at least you could use the engine for a generator or a powerboat!
I doubt I’ll win, I’m not good at tuning a sporty car, plus this is way overpowered, strop’s acceleration times were on par with my car and I’m sure his will handle better, front wheel drive and everything. I just built it because I could, my answer to most in game challenges is “insert massive v8”
Oh god guys you tempt me so badly. But I still want to enter the Mushu, because it’s an FF ultralight hatch and I want to see how it will do compared to the superior drivetrains.
On the other hand, I wonder if I could retune the Mephisto to return that kind of economy… that’d be hilarious, but a bitch to budget for. EDIT: Nah, screw that. Way too many changes to get the required mileage. That engine just isn’t built for efficiency LOL
EDIT: Okay, here’s the updated Mushu. With almost exactly the same power and weight as before, but with an approach that now squeezes even more out of the engine and improved aero (read: engine now runs hot), It will go around the track significantly faster than before, despite running on 91RON as opposed to the previous 100RON. It keeps an emissions rating of 29, and now gets a new and improved 40.1mpg
After de-tuning the motor, Ardent’s engineers are pleased. A loss of only 7 HP and 2 MPG.
And MOAR SPEED.
Part of me is going to hate to lose because I’ve poked a sleeping stallion with a 9+liter v8 stick, but another part of me giggles with anticipation, because every time I’ve poked or been poked on something like this it has ended with totally kick ass racing.
Enjoy your massive displacement. I’m a little below 4 liters.
