Economy Racers

Naturally I was curious, but it took me all of 10 minutes to build an older MR car that qualifies. It totally blitzes my Mushu’s time around the track, and that’s not even trying to tune it at all.

I have no regrets, because FF retro grannymobile lol. It’s like taking a Fiat 500 and going a few steps way past Abarth.

Here’s another photoshop I cooked up of the Mushu about to follow through the Follow Through. I was stoked to discover that Google had actually snapped the Top Gear test track. Even funnier is that if I turn the camera around, you can see the Stig driving an SLS AMG

1.9 Litres here

My frugal monster is on the works… stay tuned

I can just give you a few hints about my little monster… 3200cc, V8, Mid engine, all wheel drive

You don’t get any points for a higher mpg do you?

Overall eco friendliness I Iimagine is a combination of emissions and efficiency.

Is that 1:4 power to weight ratio in Kg or Lbs?

I’d imagine it would be similar. lbs to hp isn’t that far off from Kg to Kilowatts.

a 0.25 rating would be 1:4 power to weight, it doesn’t matter if you used kw-kg or hp-lbs

easycalculation.com/physics … -ratio.php

1 HP per 4 KG.

Thats pretty relaxed, thats 1hp per 8.8lbs, a 2010 Toyota Prius almost makes that

Edit: with its gas motor, the electric motor exceeds the requirement.

He did also say originally it had to be under 1300kg, and set the minimum benchmark of 300 hp, OR that pwr-wt ratio… which if your car is very close to 1300kg is just barely shy of 300 hp.

Regardless, either power benchmark is EAAAAAASY to hit. So easy even VicVictory can do it.

As a general rule, these were my benchmark stats, from my version of it. I’m pretty terrible at making cars, so you should be meeting these stats, or at least the ones I currently have in place.

This car had a 3.5:4 Power:weight ratio, and was running on regular 91 octane.

Ohya for sure, i did 301 hp in a 1000kg car

It might not be the fastest vehicle, but with an engine reving well beyond 8.000rpm, you won’t feel like sitting in an ecomobile. Yet it’ll do almost 50mpg!

I can’t wait to see how this all pans out!!! :sunglasses:

Me, looking at the current entries: “Well, they definitely don’t LOOK ‘boring’… ‘Interesting’ is an understatement… Who designs these? o-o”

Quite the variety so far, a 50’s hotrod, a couple sports coupes, an AWD rally hatch, a mid engine racecar and a late model hatch.

That is, a 50s FF hotrod, which took every fibre of my being to resist the temptation to post something faster! But it’s cute (at least I think so) and I’m sticking to it for the lulz. I’m expecting to probably be near the bottom of the table this time around!

I dunno, even your ‘for kicks’ builds seem to place well. My current record is a consistant 2nd last place :-p hopefully I can beat that and move up 1 tier
