Engine cylinders and speed

I think that this is a bug: in automation, a v12 with 700hp has a highter top speed than a twin turbo v8 with 1200hp.

The same with a 6 cylinder vs v8 and vs inline 4 (a more cylinders, more top speed).

I think that this is wrong.

are you sure this has nothing to do with different torque figures?

Why? If the v8 tt has a bigger torque and unniform figure?

Torque has nothing to do with top speed.

vmo, can you upload two exported cars of yours to serve as an example where you observe this issue?

A NA with less hp requires much less cooling than a turbo V8 with almost twice power.

Not necessarily, you didn’t give any details except for basic engine configurations.

Also this top speed challenge Im running right now, turbocharged 3+ liter 6 cylinders seem to outperform v12 6 liter NA monsters by 30km at LEAST and up to 100km of vmax at best.

Thanks for sending those along vmo, can’t open them though as they are full of mods.

If anyone can convincingly show the issue using vanilla content I’m keen on investigating this.

Vmo what’s the difference in top speed, a few kph or like 100kpm? What’s the weight and cooling of each?

Ok. Test the engines in any car. With 900 kj/s cooling or more.

I just did that. The outcome is:

I4 @ 977hp: 356.9 km/h
V12 @ 989hp: 358.5 km/h

At the same power the speeds would be:

I4 @ 989hp: 359.1 km/h
V12 @ 989hp: 358.5 km/h

The difference of 0.6 km/h difference is insignificant and could be due to coarse gearing settings.
So wtf is your issue, exactly?

I’ve found fairly little in the way of convincing evidence of aberrant figures here. Aero and also tyre friction/lift/drag counts for something. If you can demonstrate the differences with the same effective aero, weight distribution and down force with equal power then you may have a case.
