So, I’ve designed a new car and I need an engine, that’s basically it.
The engine that I made was a four-point-something liter V8 with an economical (ish) turbo, but it gives shitty gas mileage because I’m awful at turbo tuning for economy.
The car is an SUV that weighs about 4873lb and it has a front lip (thought that little bit of info might help with engine creation). If anyone would be willing to create an engine for me, that’d be great! I’ll give you credit, too.
Comment below or PM me if you’re interested.
What kinda SUV? Land rover defender, Porsche Cayenne, Cadillac Escalade, ford explorer? Intended for suburbs or off road? Luxurious or functional?
Bit more information then:
It’s a sorta mid - high end SUV. The kind of one that is said to be great off road, but most people wouldn’t do it at the risk of damaging your expensive ass SUV. Let’s say it’s a mix between a Range Rover and Cayenne. It’s a PREMIUM car, not a luxury car, I guess.
Also, the engine I’m requesting is for the low end models, so moderate power and good economy would be great.
Premium market so I’m assuming good comfort too, smooth and quiet?
Yep more or less. As I said it’s the base model engine so it must be the most tame. The car does have a large comfort bonus right now, despite using leaf springs.
Okay, I’m at work for a while but I think your SUV could benefit from a Centauri Hellfire, if it fits…
Have you got a link to said engine? Can’t find it in your company threads.
Sadly no, I haven’t updated my engines threads in a while, it’s the powerplant of my paladin luxury coupe. Here’s that version’s stats. I will supply you with a export file tonight. http://www.automationgame.com/phpBB3/download/file.php?id=14415
I will give a detuned more economic version, 300hp sound about right for your needs?
Nah, that should be good. If I run into any problems (size is likely to be an issue) I’ll tell you. I’m not going to be playing for a few hours right now.
Okay I have like 6 hours left on my shift before I’m home.
Here are 2 economical V8’s for you, one turbo and one NA. Both produce over 300 hp which is on par with a lower-end premium SUV such as the Land Rover Discovery.

Here are the engine files and a screen cap of the overview stats.
All engines have been updated for 2015, the “diesel” is obviously not actually diesel but it has the low friction pistons which reduce the redline to 4500, but up the economy to over 33%.
All engines take premium gas and all develop full boost and torque before 2000 rpms.
Sadly they will not fit the vanilla SUV body with AWD, they do fit fine with RWD, not sure if this is a deal breaker for you.

How about 400 horsepower and 40% efficiency with zero quality sliders? You didn’t say what year you wanted, so I assumed 2015.

Niall, your engine didn’t fit but (somehow) Oppositelock’s did, so I used that. Still getting a semi-appalling 25.8 MPG for unknown reasons, but meh, who gives a fuck.
Almost 26mpg average isn’t bad for that market, most 2 1/2 ton SUVs with lots of trim end up with a 20-25mpg average and that’s with a far less powerful NA V6.
Is the whole MPG thing for the SUV bodies broken? Or is it the grilles I’m using? I’m using the workshop Znopresk mods of the original game fixtures, the ones with like black plastic options (if you understand what I’m talking about). I get bloody awful gas mileage with this car family, my 6.2 “Fury” (700 horsepower) is getting like 13MPG, I’ve definitely gotten much higher with the same sort of engine before.
Can you compare the aerodynamic effect of the SUV vs say a sedan?
26 MPG sounds okay to me, but if you post up the vehicle files I’ll see if I can extract more out of it.
With powerbands like this I’ve always found wide spaced 4 speed autos work well. But then I usually aim my cars at a lower tech approach then most.
Its UK MPG, by the way. I can PM the car files later, but the main reason for the bad fuel economy is either the grilles or my awful tuning abilities.
