Engine Revamp

Will you guys be releasing any new engines (i.e. I3, I5, V6, V12, ect.) before or at the Engine revamp? And what are the major area’s you guys are hitting with the Revamp?

Just some of the many areas we work on currently are:

[ul]]Bore should affect airflow/:m]
]Adding new engine block material/:m]
]Addition of more options in VVT and VVL systems/:m]
]How VVT & VVL affects the cam profile/:m]
]Flywheel mass & range, and smoothness calculations/:m]
]MTTF / Servicing Revamp/:m]
]Man Hours / Material Costs/:m]
]Engine scaling and weight calculations/:m][/ul]

Ok sweet, bore and weight is what i cant wait for!! And what about any Engine type releases? or is that Top Secret Info? lol

I6s and Turbos at least, probably also superchargers

SWEET!

You should also add two different types of flywheels, solid and dual-mass.

There are a lot of things we could add, but not many things we should add considering that people would like to see a finished product at some point. While I think you understand that point, I would like to ask for effect: what advantage would such a flywheel bring except for shaving off just very few [kg] (or be a bit more efficient at equal weight)? This seems hardly like a feature worth the extra cluttering of the UI, and I don’t see it adding any real value to the experience.

Ability to squeeze more money from parts buyers? :stuck_out_tongue:

Good point xD I can see that.

A Dual mass flywheel would help improve smoothness and improve drivetrain life at the cost of a much more complex and heavy flywheel, where as s single mass flywheel (currently in game) is simple cheap and can be made very lightweight.

Many diesels and more expensive luxury cars have dual mass flywheels to either extend transmissions life or to smooth out the engines power.

Exactly why I mentioned the DMF, my truck back home has a DMF, it dampens the vibrations that the diesel makes and saves the transmission from premature failure if it wasnt there but man is it a heavy heavy heavy complicated bit of work, you CAN put a SMF on my engine but you have to then run very heavy gear oil in the transmission to dampen the vibrations and noise. BUT if just having one flywheel will get the game out sooner then ok I can live with that

Just thought I would ask, so when is this engine revamp supposed to come out? Do you have any specific date for the release?

We do not have a specific time for its release, no, but I can tell you that almost all new game mechanics have been implemented at this stage, and we are currently calibrating/finetuning things to make it as awesome as possible. While the beta testers revamp/rebalance all the scenarios, FI will be implemented, for which quite a bit of artwork is finished already.

So 2-3 weeks then? Sorry, im just too exited

You got all the right reasons to be excited too  I would not go back to the current public version and play it… it pretty bad in comparison xD
