SCEM (Simple Compact Engine Manufacturing ) is ENYAauto’s codename for Gen2 low production unit engines with simple designs, this usually intales using basic & outdated technology to make easy to manufacture engines. Engine blocks, heads, cranks & conrods are all made using cast iron & carburetors are used instead of fuel injection.

Interesting, what would the market for such engines be? Developing nations?

Fun concept at least.

Yeah developing markets would be ideal, also would be good for low production manufacturers and is used in my company’s cars.

I will say this though, in todays devoloping nations, they would be much more concerned with the engine being efficient, over being powerful. I would consider SPFI and as lean as you can make them.

yup. im in a 3rd world nation, Indonesia.
top 3 things people would consider when looking at an engine.

 1. how efficient ?
 2. how much power for that fuel consumption ?
 3. price?

extra 4th. engine size. people stay away from diesel because they are usually bigger, and we have stereotypes of bigger=less efficient. even when it’s not true for diesels

in that order. people would pay just a bit more for better efficiency.
and nowadays. people just STAY AWAY from 6 Cylinders engine. JUST NO.
our best selling ‘cheap car’ runs on a 1.2l 3 cyl engine. the newly revived with a new image, Datsun Go and Go+

also. we are a bit more advanced than you guys think
facts: even our motorcycles, which is notorious for being small (in south east asia) compared to the world. at 110cc-250cc have fuel injection now

(in US bikes 250 and below are considered small and puny bikes, right? here, we consider bikes >250cc BIG BIKES)

At the risk of being OT for just a moment.

The most popular engine displacement for a street motorcycle here in the states is 600cc, while for a dirt bike it is 250cc, and we tend to reserve the 50-150cc stuff for ‘kiddie’ bikes.

you see this??

it’s a traffic jam here, in Jakarta,Indonesia. our capital city
and i guarantee you. at least 98% of the bikes in the photo are <=150cc.

also the amount of cars to bikes here are 60% motorbikes and 40% cars. but. cars take 75% of the road spaces

and the price… >250cc are considred ‘Luxury item’ therefor gets 100% luxury tax+other import tax. which more than double the actual price. so it’s way more expensive

we live in a different world. quite vastly different
