Can we get an estimated 60 day window for Tycoon mode? Even in it’s most crude form it will more than double your Steam sales at announcement. Gear City is lovely but it’s handicapped in development due to the small, one man army and lack of a budget. I believe there is room for both games but Automation is the one that most people will buy, the one most people have been waiting for since Detroit. So, Dec-January? Feb-March? We won’t hold you to it, just what it looks like at this moment.
It looks like we’ll be starting work on it at the end of the year (once we’re on Steam), but how long it’ll take I’m not sure. Let’s say 3 months for a rough working version then a bunch more months to make it as polished and awesome as the rest of the game. That’s about as accurately as I can guess!
I would like to chime in and add that, just like in the case of the car designer, there will be several releases / updates along the way which add aspects of the tycoon part. A first demo including tycoon parts would probably come out ~3 months after the Steam release we aim to do with the next big update.
Oh no, the devs are giving dates again! Haven’t they learned yet?
Where did you see a date?
Fine, a general estimate
General estimates in the somewhat near future are not too bad… we usually only miss them by a month or so xD
Rough Automation Dev-Talk Time Translator:
2 days ~~> 3 days
1 week ~~> 10 days
1 month ~~> 6 weeks
3 months ~~> 4 months
1/2 year ~~> 1 year
1 year ~~> when you’re gray-haired
In recent time we’ve gotten a bit better at this, but not by much. The 3 month estimates were reasonably close though, beyond that we usually fail horribly
Cheers!
At least you’re not as wildly inaccurate as Microsoft file transfer times
At least Automation is confirmed, unlike Half-Life 3!
