Estrada-Vanguard Motors (Vanguard Est. 1962 Estrada Vanguard Es. 1990)

I tend to just look at the car from every angle and decide what needs to go where and how much of it.
Coming soon- the small car (998cc i4 and rwd as even that does not fit as transverse)

Right- 1966- the year after Estrada had enormous successes on the fast car front with the Swallow and its near 200 mph top speed, Vanguard were making a car that was totally different- rather than over 400bhp it (just about) had 40bhp, but thst was plenty for the target market, one that had only been created in 1956 by the Austin Mini 7 and Morris Mini Minor (no difference just depends what badge you preferred, I would go Austin as Morris’ one wasn’t out until 1959(one of the only times I would put an Austin before a Morris), this new car would be named ‘Metro’, short for Metropolitan. The benefits of having a Metro over a Mini 7 or Mini Minor were and I quote ‘insane’ as it offered more space, better, more coupe-ish looks and a more prestigious bage, the Metro was about 20cm longer than a Mini 7 but that was all that was in it and an extra 2bhp put it slightly in front of the Mini performance wise, it was advertised in Vanguard’s now famous Malachite green

Hey there! I like the '76 Solace; where did you get the body from, btw? Is it something that’s already been released?

The wheels are either 13s or 14s

After much time, I have 3 or 4 cars to show you. In order of time we have the Alsation Mk.1, Malachite Mk.2, Metro II, and Raptor Mk.1. Enjoy!
In 1970, some designers at Vangaurd had the bright idea of putting a small V8 (later that year, a 1l engine from the upcoming Metro and a 1.5l v6 was added to the range because of steadily rising fuel costs in the UK) into a hatchback/ 2 door wagon to make the compact muscle car more practical, the result was the highly innovative and stylish Alsation, so named because the Alsation is accredited with being the most intelligent dog in the world.
Alsation, because anything is possible

1971-Vanguard Malachite Mk. 2
The Malachite was in the design stage for quite a long time as desgners repeatedly tried and failed to make a front end that suited the period style and matched to the vanguard triangular grille, they eventually settled with the lower chrome style with twin rectangular headlights the bottom of the range Destiny trim has a 3.2l i6 while the Allure and X Devision 8 (later shortened to XD-8 or however many cylinders it has) both have V8s, a 5.5 and a 5.8 respectively.

In the wake of rapidly increasing oil prices in the UK, Vanguard caught the opportunity to have a second generation of their Metro small city car to better compete with more modern offerings from Austin and Morris, this new small car would figuratively and literally change the face of Vanguard forever. It has a 1l 4 cylinder now making about 60 bhp and singular square headlights mounded above the grille (now quite obiously named, the smile), the new Metro was a bit bigger than the old one and was now a hatchback and thus was more practical than the Mini and most cars from the class above in terns of boot capacity and usability.
1974- Raptor Mk.1
Now with a strong focus on the American market, Vanguard launched a large, comfortable, fast and luxurious sports coupe with numbers that don’t only still hold up today, can blow the socks off of most of the hot hatch and sports car markets. With a design ripped staright from the Malachite Mk.1, and a grille from the Malachite Mk.2, this car oozes decadence, and power, a 500+ bhp 8.0l V12 could make for a 0-62 time of just 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 182.5 mph, and the fastest car in the world goes to Vangaurd, in both acceleration and in top speed for any road legal production car for the period, Vanguard would later go on to make the fastest 12 cylinder car in the world in 1990 and the fastest front engined car in the world (all road legal) in 1990 and 2017 AND back in 1990 the fastest road legal NA car ever made (ik the McLaren F1 did 240 mph but that didn’t have a rev limiter and isn’t road legal, so my car with a relatively low 7k redline and a top speed of 239 beats the McLaren to the post, but that is yet to come)
That is your lot for this time, check back every day to see if there are any more and of course comment and say what you think of the designs and where you think the company is going to go for it’s next steps.

Really like Vanguard’s style, very authentic 70s. Plus, you’ve got the chrome right on point!

Only thing I’m a little confused by is the seize of the healights on the Alsation? Just looks a little bog-eyed. Then again, I’m not going to pretend that a V8 hatchback doesn’t sound like a lot of fun :stuck_out_tongue:

The Malachite and the Raptor are definitely the best looking cars here, and I love the suicide doors on the latter.

the raptor is a 2 door, that extra bit of chrome is just to make the car look better and more streamlined. And the Alsation has but 3.0l so it isn’t that powerful, just enough to get it going at a decent rate, and I forgot to mention that the 3l was only special order and only LHD for UK and Europe and this made the 1.5 the most commonly found in the UK and Europe.
More designs coming before Friday, so watch this space

Right, more cars from the Vanguard lineup. First we have a new Mackintire.
The new mackintire has been a long time coming and it is worth the wait, the new mackintire has either a 3.5l i6 or a 6.5l v8 and is available in either a stylish coupe or stylish and fast ute form.

And yet another Metro. The new Metro adds a lot more urban usability and cabin space for the size of the car than even the Mini and the Montego (pronounced Mont-ee-go) could at the time, this was the first Vanguard to be advertised in their now famous Tropical Sunrise, a shade of orange that provided a welcome break from the shades of cream and grey that the company is so loathed for.

I am going to break away from canon for a moment to establish that vanguard is not one entitiy later on, obviousely it holds Estrada, but it creates multiple different branches of former companies, these are Fleet Automotive (a UK based sports car company famous for shoehorning large V8s into small nimble RWD cars since the late 50s), Shimatsu Motors (a Japanese company that had a long haiatus due to lack of funding until Vanguard came along in 1980), Picasso Automotive (a German company famouse for its fast and frugal GTs and sports cars), and Valencia (a Spanish company famouse for their bold looks and wide range of cars). It is important to note that all of these brands were on the brink of collapse hat it not been for Vanguard, they would have gone. I will creat a separate, not necessarily canon thread for these companies, also their will be a new designer at Picasso mainly and some models from Vangaurd feature his designs, he starts in 2010.

In 1984, Vanguard were slightly down on cash after acquiring Fleet, Picasso and Shimatsu Automotive, to a total cost of $800M in 1980, but the Malachite hadn’t been updated for a decade or so, so Markus set to work with his team to design the most modern Malachite that had ever been created, with a Coupe, Estate, and the obligatory Sedan, it was the first car to feature Vanguard’s now famous TDFS diesel engine, at the time NA, also, Vaungaurd’s home grown tuning house ‘Carmillia’ were set loose on the Coupe to apply their own colour- Carmillian Sea Blue, their own engine- a 5.0l V8 and their own bespoke tuning and additional options -excerpt from options list c.1984 Black Rear Spoiler, Carbon Rear and Front splitter-

In 1985, Vaunguard built a new Raptor- to beat the world record… Again! The new Raptor did 0-62 in 3.3s and went on to a top speed of 201.6 MPH, beating out the Ferrari F40 by a rated 1.6 MPH, the new Raptor struggled to sell for one key reason- it could only manage 11.7 MPG, Aston Martins at the time had engine of a similar size to the Raptor but were getting mid 20s to low 30s on the economy front, so all of Vanguard’s hopes for the Raptor lied on the fact that it held the World Speed Record

Here are the Export files for the Malachite and the Raptor- see if you can improve my engineering to make it go faster or get more MPGs, PM me your attempts with your username for the trim level. Note- You can only use the body styles and morphing that I have used, and the fixtures and engine families, so only engine variants can be changed.powerhaul70012 - Vanguard Malachite Mk.III.zip (61.1 KB)

After purchasing Estrada in 1990 for $1.3Bn in 1990, Vaunguard made the first Vanguard Estrada car, a 2+2 GT coupe called Rapier, it was dug up from Estrada plans for the next Swallow and Vaunguard plans for a sports car called Rapier, Vanguard name, Estrada body, everything from 4 to 12 cylinders was offered, with the 12 cylinder barely taking it into the history books with a top speed of 239.7 MPH with its very restrictive stock rev limiter, making it much faster than the McLaren F1 because even when it hit 230 MPH, the McLaren was rev bouncing at 8500+ RPM while the vanguard was cruising at around 6250 RPM

Again, here are the exports, try and improve my designs, terms are in the 1985 Raptor postpowerhaul70012 - Vanguard Rapier Mk.1.zip (102.2 KB)

Amid rumours that Japanese Automotive Giant Toyota was working on the leatest in high tech mid sized sedans, Vaunguard quickly set to work on a revolutionary ney type of drivetrain, the Hybrid, launching in 1996, it predated the Prius by a whole year, but couldn’t match the Prius on MPG or Price, but blew it out of the water on looks, style and reliability, due to not having a CVT, it didn’t get as high MPG but the Electric motor never ran out of juice and even if it did, the engine had sufficient power due to its use of the standard Otto cycle companred to the prius’ use of an offset camshaft and different valve timing (now called VVT-I). A few months before the launch of the Prius II, videos of Prius 1s that had run out of electricity for the motor surfaced online, showing it topping out at less than 40 MPH, when this happened to a Prophecy, the car had only minor performance blemishes (slightly slower 0-60 and less than 1 MPH loss in top speed)The prophecy was also launched with an Estate, Coupe and Sedan where the Prius just had a Sedan, later a Kammtail Hatchback (I know that because my parents have a Prius II, very reliable and decently fast family hauler, 10 years old this year and with over 125k miles, it runs like new and still gets above what other owners in 2008 and 2009 models are getting)

Here is the Export, try improve it MPG only this timepowerhaul70012 - Vanguard Prophecy.zip (44.6 KB)

In 1997, Vaunguard Estrada launched a new small mid engine sports car, and a unique one at that, no, Camillia didn’t shoehorn a Twin Turbo V12 into the back of it, but I catered for everyone, with everything from a 1l i3 to a 3.2l V8 FP so it could compete with as many cars as possible, from the MG TF to the Audi TTs of this world. Power ranged from 118 bhp in he 1l i3 to 325 bhp in the 3.2l V8FP which meant it could be easily driven by teenagers looking for a bit of road based fun all the way to Midlife Crisis experiencing people in their 30s-40s, all while actually looking cool, I mean look at it.
‘It is the most elegant car in its class, and will be for at least 5 years’ said Tiff Needel

My final post this session, it is the year 2000 and everyone is expecting everything, great technological advanxes 24/7, the end of thw world any second and another great Vanguard, well, one of those was true. The year 2000 brought great success to Vanguard, the launch of the Futura supermini turbopetrol was so popular, it had to stay in production until 2006, it was originally going to be cauncelled in 2003 as it was just supposed to show what was possible with a small 4 cylinder in a small car, the 10t could get 45mpg and the 12t S could do 0-62 in 7.7s and weighed in the triple figures due to a sports lightweight interior

The exports- rules for improving are on post 93powerhaul70012 - Vanguard Futura.zip (80.7 KB)

That’s a seriously impressive lineup. I love your choice of exterior colors for some of your cars!

Thank you.

NOT CANON
Leeks from the recent Detroit Auto Show have it on footage that Markus Dylan Vanguard is gay, only minutes after he said it,
(I don’t know if it matters much to anyone reading this post but he is, he is also semi autobiographical, and has all of my personal oddities and downfalls (gay, paralysing stage fright, high functioning autistic spectrum disorder(has OCD like effects and makes the person specifally good at Maths and Science) an Elon Musk like stutter and hates loud noises, he can only use hand dryers with the button thingy)
happy post 100 to Estrada Vanguard /
heres to more prosperity and fun /
