Hello. This game is awesome but I do not know much about the technical aspects of car motors. Oh well, here are my attemps… Hope they’re good
This is the (not 2.0L anymore. I changed it a bit) 1.8L EcoI4 by Yugo Motors (YM). A small and relatively cheap engine with superb build quality and it doesn’t use too much fuel. Perfect for those who’re looking for an eco engine with a bit of power. Use with 95 octane fuel only!
This is the 2.4L SuperI4, a high performance I4 engine for those who’re looking for a sports car that won’t obliterate their wallet. Again, at Yugo Motors, build quality is top priority, hence the long man hours. Use with 95 octane fuel only!
Lastly, here’s the 5.0L SuperV8, the ultra-performance, premium quality engine for those looking for mountain moving power. The 737 hp will make sure that you’re the king of the street. Yugo Motors spent a lot of time to make sure that the quality is superb, hence the (insane) man hours and price on this one. The man hours and price is a guarantee, for the consumer, that the product they’re buying is first class quality built with the finest materials on the planet. Use with 98 octane fuel only!
For a first try these Engine are very good you are off to a good start with how much HP and your Econ numbers. That being said I have listed some things I think you could do for each Engine! while some of my suggestions will most likely loose you some power but hopefully not too much, If you added the Engine files I could take a look at them and see what I can do too
Tips:
Lower RON to 91 for cheaper fuel and possibly getting better Econ numbers (RON 91 fuel is cheaper then RON 95 by around 5 cents a Litre)
make sure you hit your RON number dead on for best performance
Lower your Man Hours and Material Cost to make engine a reasonable price. I think you would probably charge 2$ for every 1$ you spend on material and then you have to pay at least 20$ per man hour (probably low after taxes and all other things that you have to pay as a company) that being said this engine would roughly cost about $3200, Which is pricy for a economic engine (at least thats what I think)
Your turbo is not really doing much I would say go Naturally Aspired or make the turbo have a better acceleration and then stabilize.
Make sure you hit RON dead on, you could up your HP and Torque
This engine cost roughly $4900 which is not what I would call a inexpensive engine
Again you need to work on making a more powerful Turbo or switch to N/A

I agree with the octane, but $9000 is a bargain for a supreme engine. NRE engines can run you $30,000
I assumed that this would be a kind of mass produced engine, I mean I guess if it is in those really expensive cars then it would work. Depends on what your use of the engine is for, if you want to try and sell it in everyday cars or even higher ended sport cars the price seems a little high to me, I just think there are ways to get the same HP for cheaper and the A.I. in the game may do it, which could really hurt your company. But that is just me, Mr. Economically inexpensive trying to save a buck!
Regarding the octane: In Europe, the most common octane ratings are 95 and 98. Anything bellow 95 octane is hard to find in Europe and these engines were intended for the European market. I would lower the octane rates for other markerts, where lower octane is more common. And the V8 is imited production, of course. It’s for expensive, high power sports cars.
The first engine’s needs a bit of work as max boost doesn’t last that long. Adjust the compressor, turbine and A/R ratio.
The second engine is very nice however the economy could be better.
The third engine has a lot of potential which is being hampered by the rev limit. I am pretty sure that a lot more power will appear if you raise the rev limit. Economy could do with a bit of improving.
Other than that these engines are impressive for first time engines. Although the cost of developing the engines seems a lot, that is how much engines cost. Adding taxes, workforce, some other bits and bobs and obviously profit it can cost three ties asmuch as the actual material cost. That is why when you look at the price of cars it can go up buy £/€1000 for a 200cc increase.
I agree with the other guys, the 5.0 Twin-turbo V8 really needs refining because the turbo boost comes waaaay too late. Here’s an example of a 5.0 twin-turbo V8, it’s the one i use in one of my cars (hence the name of the engine). It’s not a PERFECT engine and you sure can get more power out of it, but you can learn from this Eagle 5.0 TTRev10.lua (65.2 KB)
Hi. I changed a lot in my designs and cut down man hours drastically thus reducing the cost of each engine. I did better on the turbo now and the boost comes earlier.
Never in my life have I seen an engine with such weird power curve and torque curve. That needs to be smoothed out somehow because if that was to make it to production the performance would be unpredictable and unstable. Also your new V8 engines are extremely heavy (nearly 500 kg!)
