Because I haven’t had a company thread for so long, here it finally is. Don’t expect new designs too frequently, but now and then I may post something. Also, don’t expect any photoshop work. I’m a gamer and a car enthusiast, not a graphics designer.
So let’s get to the important things …
What is Frankenstein Automobile?
We are an austrian car company founded in 1945 by Frank N. Stein (no one actually knows what the N. stands for), aimed primarily at the budget market. We do believe that comfortable, easy to drive cars should be available to everyone.
What do we do?
Our cars are mainly focused on:
low cost (also running cost)
reliability
comfort
drivability
So we have everything from the small city car to the premium sedan in our lineup. We also produce sports cars, but there’s yet no interest to compete in the hyper car market.
Motorsports?
Our racing department FSR (Frankenstein Racing) was founded in 1969. We do since take part at racing events, and we will occasionally offer ‘sportified’ versions of our cars that are inspired by FSR.
It comes with 3 different Inline-6 engines:
2.0L - 79 bhp
2.4L - 91 bhp
2.8L - 108 bhp
Available trims:
Base:
Standard Interior, Basic AM Radio, Standard Safety
Engines: 2.0 or 2.4
Premium:
Premium Interior, Standard AM Radio, Advanced Safety Features.
Engines: 2.4 or 2.8
All trims have a 4-gear manual shifter, power steering, auto locker differentials and a comfort-optimized MacPherson / Semi Trailing Arm suspension. The base model is available in 3 colors, for the premium one there are 4 colors (the dark red color seen in the picture is premium-only).
0-100km/h ranges from 15.4 seconds (2.0) to 11.9 seconds (2.8), top speed is 159km/h to 178km/h.
Aaaand I’m continuing this with new models Yes, that’s plural. Hopefully.
Actually, I’ll start with some older models, right at the beginning of our company. With the first car Frankenstein Automobile ever made.
In post-war Austria, Frank N. Stein had a vision. He wanted to build a cheap car for the masses, one that every family could afford. Coming from a wealthy background himself, he had some money at hand to buy a small production line, where he and his team of engineers started designing a car.
The Frankenstein 116, as it was named, could hold 4 people as well as some luggage. The interior was kept very basic, as every aspect of the car was designed with cost cutting in mind to keep it affordable.
It was powered by the Frankenstein A625 engine, a 3-cylinder rated 44Nm and 24hp. Considering its time and application, it was quite high revving with a 5000rpm redline.
That engine was mated to a 2-speed manual gearbox making for an acceleration of 42.5s to 100km/h and a top speed of 114km/h. No fancy numbers, but the car did its job, moving people at a budget. At 7l per 100km it was also quite fuel efficient.
It wasn’t without flaws though. Build quality on the bodywork was poor and it was quite prone to rust, which is why very few of the approximately 70,000 cars sold are still in good condition today.
It featured a brought-up-to-spec version of the A625 3-cylinder, tuned for 28hp. The standard 2-speed gearbox that came with the 116 was replaced by a 3-speed, accelerating the 568kg light car to 100 km/h in 26 seconds. Excellent Aerodynamics make for a 134 km/h top speed on flat ground, on the downhill sections of Nordschleife our driver reported hitting 145 km/h. A complete lap is done in just over 13 minutes.
