Game Only Uses One Processor on Computer

I am not much of a computer buff, but I asked my buddy why the game takes up 100% of just one of my cores on my computer when I have a quad core processor. He said it’s because the game is only single threaded instead of multi threaded. Is this the case, and if so can that be changed in anyway? The game runs ok for me, but it would be a lot faster if it was able to utilize more of my processing power. I love this game, can’t wait for the complete version to be released, but it would be awesome if I could use all of my computer’s potential.

Thanks!

Strange, it should use 2 cores pretty hard and a 3rd one a bit, it is multithreaded

I have the same issue. I have an intel i7 3610QM quad core with eight threads and it is only using my second thread at 100% and the seven other ones are unused.

Same for me as Water77, I have the i7 3610 QM also, which acts like it has 8 cores with the hyper threading, and it only uses the “second” core, and none of the others. Glad to know it is multi-threaded though

Same with me i7-2630QM one core is 100% and a second is 30-40%

Does depend what it’s doing at the time too, it uses each core for different things.

Same for me, the game use 100% of the “second” core of my i5-2500K, only ~30% of the “third”, and almost no others (idle)…

I already tried to close all other programs, but for example, in Battlefield 3, all the cores are used the same (~70%) !

It’s the same on my phenom II-965 - 100% usage on core 2 and i guess about 15% altogether across the other 3 cores.

I am running a 2008 Intel Core 2 Duo and well I havent seen anything like this come up but I will look into it

I use this gadget to see the core use : addgadgets.com/all_cpu_meter/

And you can run the game in “no-fullscreen”

thanks I will take a look and at the load screen where it shows you all that stuff still to come before the main menu my graphics card fans goes bananas can you please fix that so it doesnt kill older graphics cards please Daffy…please please please do that!!

Yeah, I don’t understand why the graphic card “suffer” on the menus… there is nothing to render, right ?

And it’s not gonna kill yours if it has a good ventilation system. Overheating does

I have good ventilation in my rig its just weird and well I have 1111MB RAM left because I am using something like 2.9GB RAM for the rest of my pc to run and I have 4GB RAM I am really needing to upgrade soon…

Free RAM is wasted RAM
I think it’s ok if you have more than ~500Mb left, if it’s too low, Windows begin to SWAP (use a file on the hard drive as RAM) and your PC run slower

tell me about it man I am usually running with 2.3GB used but I had two Chome web broswers opened with Skype on I am trying to build a new pc with like 32GB ram I just hope I can pay for it you know lol

Hopefully the RAM is not expensive ^^ you can have 16GB for around 100$

Problem is my machine is from like 2008 and well its got 2 RAM slots on it…and the max you can go on this motherboard is 4GB…

Ok I see… so it’s better that you upgrade your whole machine

yeah if I get help from my dads company its gonna cost like £1600 rather than like I think £1900 but my dad isnt willing just yet which is a pain in the rear end!

Bumping thread.

Is the threading issue going to get solved in the final version?

I’ve noticed the performance drops constantly throughout playing, starting at 60+ fps, and then dropping to under 15 fps after 2, 3 hours of playing.
After the game became really slow, I fired up Task Manager and saw that the CPU usage was at 100% on my first two cores, while the other 6 did nothing. (I have an i7-920@3.8GHz, 4 hardware and 8 logical cores)

I then opened Afterburner, and concluded that the game was being massively bottlenecked by the lack of threadedness - GPU usage was between 5 and 10% with the fps sitting around 15.
