Gearbox Glitch?

Hi guys, (First Post!)

I’ve been playing around with Automation for a few days, and really like the game. However, I recently experienced a bug where the gearbox ratios would go completely out of whack. The first gear would have a massive amount of power distribution, whilst the other gears would be spaced closely together and have very short power bands. I’ve found this glitch multiple times (sorry, no pics so far), most prominently when dealing with 7 or 8-speed gearboxes (of all types). The resulting long first gear ratio creates a dramatically reduced zero-to-sixty acceleration time, and I’ve had to resort to using transmissions with fewer gears - in turn sacrificing top speed and high-end performance.

I’ve also found a strange problem with the differential. When using a all-wheel-drive car, I’ve found that occasionally using a high-performance sports diff dramatically reduces acceleration. At one time, my originally 2.9 second 0-60 became over 8 seconds. Removing the differential option or switching to a manual locker automatically restored most of the performance (3.2 seconds). I’ve noticed that both this glitch and the gearbox glitch occurred after I had finished the car and was tweaking the suspension/handling characteristics. The game would run through it’s recalculation animation (the spinning gears) and all of a sudden the car’s stats would be messed. Reverting my previous edit would not help. I therefore have isolated this to the gearbox and transmission tab.

Are you using the latest standalone or steam version? This sounds like the old 7 speed glitch is back or not gone from your version. With your diff issue make sure your power distribution is not 100% Front, the AWD defaults to 100% front wheel drive and is a cause for many of these “issues” with traction, you need to adjust it rearwards.

I have version B150409 (standalone). It is a slightly older version of the game (1 month?). Forgive my ignorance, but did they patch it recently? I don’t see it in the recent patch notes.

For the differential, it automatically sets to 50/50. I read about the AWD problems on the forum before; and I have tried near every combination possible. Setting power back to the rear wheels helps marginally; but not much more than it normally does (even without the glitch). I’ll try to recreate the circumstances again and give a more detailed report.

EDIT: I have patch B150409

I think if you are on that old of a standalone it was before the gearbox patch, is there a particular reason you arent using the Steam version? There was a big aero update that changed aerodynamics and I dont think that one is on the standalone version yet so you wont have that either.

Are you using the demo version or the full game?
